Want to help out at Pinas Kultura Days? We’d love to have you!

You do **not** need to be an expert in Filipino culture or an experienced event volunteer.

If you’re friendly, dependable, willing to learn and comfortable helping people, there is probably a role for you. ❤️

Volunteer opportunities include:

👋 welcoming and checking in guests
📘 helping with Cultural Passports and directions
🎨 assisting exhibitors and Cultural Activation facilitators
🪑 helping with setup and takedown
🎤 moderating short speaker sessions
📸 taking photos and videos
✍️ community news writing
🗣️ helping guests in languages you speak
✨ supporting activities and answering questions

You can choose the roles and time slots that work for you, including short 2–3 hour shifts.

Students and first-time volunteers are welcome, and this can also be a great way to gain community experience, meet people and build skills.

🎉 It’s September 1 which means Alberta Culture Days officially begins today!

All month long, communities across Alberta will be celebrating the stories, traditions, creativity and experiences that connect us to one another and to the places we call home.

CALL FOR EXHIBITORS, SPEAKERS & CULTURAL ACTIVATION FACILITATORS

Do you have a part of Filipino culture, history, art, language, tradition or lived experience that you would like to share? 🎤🕺🏿🎶🎴

EPIC is now accepting applications for Pinas Kultura Days, our Alberta Culture Days event on September 25–26, 2026 at Stanley A. Milner Library.

We are looking for people who can help create interactive cultural experiences, such as:
🎨 traditional or contemporary art
🧵 textiles, clothing, embroidery or cultural materials
🗣️ Filipino languages and regional traditions
🎶 music, dance or performance
📚 research, storytelling or lived-experience talks
☕ food, coffee or flavour traditions as cultural education
🌏 migration, community, environment, history and everyday Filipino life
✨ or another cultural idea we have not thought of yet!

A Cultural Activation can be as simple as a 2–3 minute drop-in interaction where guests learn, ask, try, reflect or discover something new, or it can be a longer demonstration, workshop or talk.

We especially welcome emerging facilitators, students, community groups and people who may not already be connected to EPIC’s usual networks. If you have knowledge, lived experience or an idea you want to develop, we want to hear from you.

Selected speakers and Cultural Activation facilitators may be eligible for an honorarium, with details discussed individually.

🇵🇭 Help us bring Pinas Kultura Days to life!

EPIC Pinas Kultura Days is FREE and open to the public, and we’re getting ready for two days of Filipino cultural activations, workshops, stories, exhibits and hands-on activities at Stanley A. Milner Library. Because this is a community event, even a small donation can go a surprisingly long way.

🥤 $10 can help us pick up a case of drinks for volunteers and participants.
🍪 $20 might mean extra "merienda" such as pandesal, ensaymada or snacks for the day.
🎨 $50 can help purchase craft and cultural activation supplies, like capiz shells or slippers for patintero.
🥋 $75 can help us borrow, rent or purchase materials for another hands-on activity, maybe even another pair of arnis sticks!
💛 Larger gifts can help us provide "pasasalamat: honoraria to cultural facilitators, print more EPIC brochures, produce Cultural Passports, and cover other event costs.

No donation is “too small.” Sometimes $10 really is two packs of ensaymada, a couple jars of Stik-O, or the little supply we suddenly realize we need if the kids liked all our stickers. 😄

Donations will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Businesses and organizations interested in sponsorship or in-kind support, including food, drinks, printing, supplies or services, are also welcome to contact us.

Together, we can make Filipino culture visible, welcoming and accessible to everyone.

Sometimes, hindi naman kulang sa pagmamahal. Magkaiba lang talaga ang pinanggagalingan. 💛

As Filipino parents raising children in Canada, there are moments when what makes sense to us doesn’t always make sense to them—and vice versa.

So this time, we’re bringing both generations into the conversation.
