What a gift, to sketch with friends during golden hour surrounded by the lazy of hum of bees slowly moving through the blooms.

Special shout-out to a sweet little cottontail visitor (photo 3) and to Heather Langdale ‘s NEW tattoo! Her family of snow geese is perfect and special for so many reasons.

It’s extra special to get to visit with sketch club originals we haven’t seen in a while, thanks for coming out tonight BrendaLakeman , we’ve missed you so!

What a beautiful day to explore the newly updated Hawrelak Park and sketch with friends, new and familiar!

Some of the things we had the privilege of observing:
- Duck families
- A million geese
- Sparkling water
- A bubbling brook
- Verdant green everywhere
- Blooms upon blooms at every turn
- New sculpture work by Cheyenne Rain LaGrande
- A doe wandering the water’s edge
- Families and friends wandering together

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that part of what is so magical about Sketchclub is that anyone can show up to sketch, or chat, or sketch and chat, or simply sit amongst fellow creatives and observes the beauty around us without don’t anything at all. We’ve got space for it all.

Sometimes, just being together is all we need!

Summers are full of vacation plans, family reunions, last-minute BBQ dinners, and so much more. It’s a wonderful time of year, though it makes it hard to stick to our third-Saturday-of-the-month routine. Instead, we relax things a bit in the summer. We’ve booked a few evening meets (last night was one) and a few Saturdays between July and August. Last night, we met at the Legislature Grounds, just as the sun began to turn things amber. We were surrounded by the sounds of children splashing and laughing their way through pools, mumbled conversations, and the most glorious jingle of dog tags as many a four-legged friend ambled past on an evening stroll. It was a perfectly Edmonton night, captured in ink, pencil crayon, and paint! Hope to see y’all at the next one!

Sketch Around YEG Club folks had the BEST time at SNAP Gallery & Printshop Open Studio yesterday, exploring the galleries, learning about the print studio AND getting hands-on with a screen printing activity prepared by Myken and Georgia. (Of course, no sketch meet would be complete without a snack break - this time via Doughnut Party )!

The YEG art community is such an incredible gathering place for creatives, and at its heart is SNAP! A print shop and gallery built on sharing knowledge and connecting people with “art, ideas and each other!”

We’re so grateful for the invitation to explore, sketch and print, and we can’t wait to visit again!

Thank you to Caitlin for the invitation and to Myken and Georgia for organizing and setting up our print activity, we are so grateful!

Such a perfect spring day to visit Edmonton’s Little Italy and to take in the Festa Primavera!

We had a small but mighty group of artists today and we sat together at the most perfect long table to snack and sip and chat while we sketched!

lt seems like spring is official HERE and it was a joy to take in al the colour and festivities in one of Edmonton’s most iconic neighbourhoods! (And it’s always a bonus to have a few new folks join our art adventures and to bump into sketch club faves like !)

Mark your calendars and keep an eye on your inboxes for our June meetup taking place Saturday June 20th at 10:00 am at . An email will be coming out soon with still the details and we’d love an RSVP to this one if you think you’ll make it! SNAP will have TWO exciting exhibits to sketch and there’s even a plan for a printing activity taking shape.

There’s never a shortage of amazing art opportunities in this city, we hope you’ll join us!

Sketch Club met at a fan favourite location today, the , to take in the incredible sculpture work by (and to visit the best ) !

The photos can’t quite capture the scale and ingenuity of the sculptures, (giant, people-sized pieces of crumpled lined paper and colourful crumples - nostalgic and familiar), let alone the fact that many of the “paper” sculptures on the walls were made of aluminum!

We had a few new friends join us today, which is always a treat! AND, after what seemed like forever, the sun was out.

Thanks to everyone for joining us today to sketch and take in one of St. Albert’s incredible public art spaces! A special thanks to the staff at for making our group feel so welcome!
