What a fabulous weekend of new plays!
Thank you so much to everyone who attended our showcase on October 1 & 2 and much gratitude to The Grindstone Theatre, Alberta Playwrights Network, The Edmonton Arts Council, Concrete Theatre and Nathaniel Hehir for supporting our wee adventure in new 10-minute plays.
Congratulations to our playwrights Alexandria Fortier, Nicole Moeller, Amanda Samuelson, Zack Siezmagraff, Gavin Wilkes and Calla Wright on your fantastic plays!
And thank you to our talented ensemble: Daniela Fernandez, Beth Graham, Corben Kushneryk and Josh Languedoc.

What a terrific night of short and sweet 10 minute plays!!! Thanks to all who came out to watch in-person and online!! It was a treat to be in a theatre with all of you!!
October 2nd join us for PASTRIES AND PLAYWRITING- a chat about the 10-minute play with present and former EDMONten playwrights Nicole Moeller and Amanda Samuelson. Conni Massing will be facilitating this engaging FREE event in the morning at 11:30am in the Grindstone Bistro.

Beth Graham is an actor and a playwright. As an actor, she has worked professionally on stages across Canada and toured internationally. As a playwright, she has been a finalist for the Governor General’s Award for Drama and received the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award twice. Beth is currently the Lee Playwright in Residence at the University of Alberta. She is thrilled to be reading new work aloud for EDMONten’s ten minute play festival.

Corben is absolutely thrilled to be joining the second annual EDMONten! Born and raised on Treaty 8, Corben is a Métis artist working in theatre and film. His work as an actor has been seen at the Citadel Theatre, Mayfield Dinner Theatre, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Vancouver Arts Club, Fringe Festivals across Canada and many more. He is currently Co-Artistic Director of Concrete Theatre and is also the Founder and Co-Artistic Producer of Edmonton's award-winning Impossible Mongoose.

Daniela Fernandez (she/her) is an emerging Latinx multidisciplinary artist. She is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan Theatre Arts program. Over the last year, Daniela has been diving into the world of sound, with the support of local designers. In 2020, she was one of the inaugural recipients of the RBC Horizon Emerging Artist Mentorship Program at The Citadel Theatre for Sound Design. This fall Daniela will be sound designing Hiraeth (dir. Rachel Peake) at the Varscona Theatre and also The Fiancée (dir. Daryl Cloran) at The Citadel Theatre. You can also catch her performing on stage in A Christmas Carol this December. She is excited and grateful to have the opportunity to create and share space during such unprecedented times.

Josh Languedoc is a proud member of Saugeen First Nation and lives as a guest in Treaty 6 Territory as an Anishinaabe playwright, storyteller, teacher, and producer. Some of Josh’s plays include Rocko and Nakota: Tales From the Land (Theatre Prospero, Banff Centre), Feast (University of Alberta, Fringe 2021), CIVIL BLOOD: A Treaty Story (Thou Art Here Theatre) and The Eyes Of Spirits (Rubaboo Festival, Native Earth Performing Arts, Citadel Theatre). Josh also teaches around the Edmonton area with the Citadel’s Foote Theatre School, Edmonton Public Schools, Artstrek, Northern Alberta YMCA, and Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre. Josh is currently finishing his MFA Theatre Practices at the University of Alberta and works as the Director Indigenous Strategic Planning at the Edmonton Fringe and the Youth Education Coordinator at Workshop West Playwrights’ Theatre.

Honourable mention goes to Carmen Morgan for her play DANTE'S DOOR.
Carmen Morgan is a freelance writer and Principal at Writing on the Wall. Since 2007, she has been working alongside organizations, entrepreneurs, and business owners to articulate their messages and authentic stories. In 2018, she wrote and produced Apricot Stones for the Edmonton Fringe Festival, a play about an underground network of women fighting for their rights in Kabul, Afghanistan. She has been published in Confluence, Avenue (now Edify), & Alberta Venture.
