In 2001 the Eastport Peninsula Arts & Heritage Society opened the Beaches Heritage Centre and in 2002 the Winterset in Summer Literary Festival was created when it recognized that our peninsula and centre would be the perfect location for the festival. Since then we have had 25 years of partnership and we were delighted to have our AGEX committee honour this partnership today. Another little bit of history: all of the festival chairs except one have been local residents - Georgina Hedges and Edythe Goodridge, followed by Pat Parsons (of Gander but her heart is on the Peninsula), Kathy Hodder, Randy Street, and now Sonja Knutson. Our past president, Robert Hiscock, was also the festival coordinator for most of the first 20 years! We wish the festival many more years of presenting its festival with us.
