Hey folks!

Over the past few years I’ve been getting a lot more mixing work sent to me from bands, especially since the beginning of the pandemic.

I started noticing a bunch of consistent troubles bands and artists would have with the sessions or files they were sending me. Whether it’s getting the files from their computer to mine, tracks not lining up right, or issues with the recordings themselves.

So I decided to start a blog over at schoolhousestudios.ca, where I dive into some of the most common issues I see, solutions to these issues as well as some other tips to help improve the songs you’ve been recording in your living room the past 2 years.

Back in October Trauma Model came to hang out at the studio for a week and a bit and eat sandwiches. It was a nice time.

Oh and I guess we also recorded some music.

They put out a video for one of the musics we recorded.

It's been just over a week since The Midwife Crisis dropped the new EP we recorded in the summer, Go Nuts For Donuts on Rocket Launcher Records!

It was such a fun week in the studio making this record, experimenting with weird gear combinations and trying to get sounds outside the heavy world that I spend so much of my time in.

It's been a minute since I last dropped a new School House Live episode. But here it is!

Episode 3, featuring my favourite wrestling inspired hardcore band, POWERBOMB.

I loved making a record with these guys, and loved capturing them rip this set live off the floor!

Yesterday Hostage unofficial dropped their new EP we recorded right before the world shut down.

I had wanted to work with Hostage since the first time Hellbent played a show together a few years ago. Needless to say I was beyond excited to be involved in making this EP with them, and am even more excited by the incredible response to this release!

Thanks to the gentlemen in Hostage for having me be apart of this banger!

2020 was a weird year for all of us. But despite the weirdness, I was still able to be apart of making a lot of cool records and songs.

I'd like to thank The Slime, Dead Slow, Hellbent, TRAUMA LANES, Trauma Model, Rust, World’s Grasp, Hostage unofficial, Spill Your Guts, Damage Control, Gouge Out, Corbin Giroux Music, Deck P**s, Yoney, Under Stolen Skies, , and Scott Middleton - Record Producer & the bands we worked on together for keeping 2020 feel like somewhat of a normal year.

Seeing as Ontario is back in lockdown for the month, I'm looking to take on a bunch of mixing and editing work to keep me busy during this time, as well as starting to book sessions back in the studio for late February/March/April. Let's chat and start planning to get all of your lockdown songs out into the world!

Another new release from this week!

The Slime came down to the studio a few weeks back to hang with myself and Scott Middleton - Record Producer for a day and do an off the floor session.

They dropped the first single, The Day The Earth Stood Still, this past Friday and it rips. The rest of the EP, "Coming Soon To An Ally Near You" is out December 11th!

If you're into short and fast hardcore punk, this is right up your ally! Check it out!

Yesterday Flying Too High (David Gibel) released a single called "Robin".

We recorded this song a few summers ago when David finished university. It was a ton of fun making this record and really cool to work on record that was written and performed entirely by him.

This is a super cool song and I'm so excited that it's finally out in the world!

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of reamping & mixing a song for Dead Slow. They released the song, Omnipulator, a few days ago and I couldn't be more stoked to have been apart of it and how it turned out!
