I’ve been sanding pots for a good chunk of the day from my recent wood soda fire. suggested that it might take some time to appreciate and like some of our pots . I liked the shape when these were made but was unsure of the clay glaze combo, but as I have been getting to know them, I am really liking the deep subtle changes in colour that were produced through the firing. Hope you like this collection of vases as well!

Travelling mug kayaked out on Georgian Bay. A wonderful few days in the great outdoors where the inspiration for this mug series came from. We lucked out with beautiful weather!

Mugshot Monday with something a little different! Fresh out of the beautiful kiln of and under the mentorship of shed pottery I am sipping my cup of tea this morning. Over the summer I’ve been making pots for this wood and soda firing event with 7 other potters. Last week we loaded the kiln and then fired it overnight Monday until early evening Tuesday and yesterday after several days of cooling, we unloaded. I’m still mulling through everything, everyone and now the results of the firing. Many pots I love and will share over time as they still need some elbow grease in the form of sanding! A wonderful experience with what I believe are a new group of pottery buddies!
Interesting fact, the train we see and hear daily out the front of our home are the same tracks that Teresa’s kiln backs into and just a little further behind those tracks is my parents old homestead in Lynden! Cheers!

A year ago a travelling mug went to Norway and what a trip that was. My travelling buddy had gifted me this calendar at Xmas came for a visit today. We have been reminiscing over our adventures including many a Scandinavian Cardamom Bun, so today I felt it was fitting to bake. Yum! Still working on finding the perfect recipe but these were not bad at all!
