The Art of Will Julsing
With selected works from the Permanent Collection
of the Cowichan Public Art Gallery opens to members only on Thursday evening and to the public on Friday November 7th. Known for his unique style and generous heart, beloved Dutch Canadian artist, Will Julsing was a pioneer of the Cowichan Valley’s arts community. His murals have adorned buildings and walls around our public and commercial spaces, while his mesmerizing paintings have been featured in local solo and group shows for decades.
Julsing was also respected internationally as an award winning artist and as an architect whose work included a hospital, a mosque and a monastery. His haunting paintings, shown in Canada, the US and Europe, will linger in your memory.
This stunning exhibit, in the newly-renovated ground floor space of the Green Door building, is from a collection of the artist’s paintings from the 1970s into the 2000s which was recently and generously donated to CPAG by Julsing’s widow, Bernice Woollam.
A selection of his paintings can be viewed online at willjulsing.com
