The Regional Tour is back! This year Royal MTC and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries are bringing a hockey romance on the road.

This Canadian romantic comedy is about two lonely single parents who meet and fall in love while watching their kids play a season of minor hockey. Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad was first produced in 1999 by Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company on tour throughout Nova Scotia. The Toronto premiere was produced by Factory Theatre in 2003.

Upright Bass, Fiddle, Irish Flute, Soprano Saxophone, Tin Whistle, Guitar, Drums, Vocals ... The McDades had them all! 🎶 It was an enjoyable evening filled with vibrant tunes that kept our toes tapping! Thank you to everyone who came out 😀

DES was very excited to welcome The McDades for a special outreach session with students from four different schools in and around Dryden this afternoon! 🎶 The Centre was electric with joy and enthusiasm!

The outreach session was very interactive, engaging, and full of energy (by both the band and the students)!. It gave students the chance to experience live music up close, learn about the instruments the band plays, the musical traditions and the different styles. Hearing directly from professional artists about their creative journey was a fantastic opportunity for these youth!

Outreach opportunities like this are so important. They bring learning to life, inspire curiosity, and help students see new possibilities for their own talents and interests. Connecting students with working artists makes the arts more accessible and meaningful.

A big thank you to The McDades for sharing their time and talent with us — it was a memorable experience for everyone involved! A special thanks as well to Rotary Club of Dryden who sponsor outreach opportunities with DES.
