Why I chose the name The Downeaster for my Virtual Pinball Machine that I built.
The Downeast-style (or Down Easter) fishing boat is a classic maritime design originating from Maine. Famous for a tall flared bow, a spacious aft cockpit, and a full-length keel, this iconic vessel is cherished by anglers for its exceptional fuel efficiency, unmatched stability, and ability to conquer rough North Atlantic waters.
The Cape Islander (originating in Nova Scotia) is widely considered the predecessor and major influence for the Downeaster (originating in Maine), but they differ in their specific hull shape and stem design.
