The Quarrelsome Yeti Screenprinted artwork and Apparel by Geordan Moore. The Quarrelsome Yeti is the vehicle for Geordan’s Moore’s art and ideas.

He founded the Dartmouth-based print studio and apparel company in 2010. It’s been going gangbusters ever since, producing clothing, household items, accessories, art prints and posters decorated with the wacky, bizarre and baroque characters Geordan creates, including his namesake Yeti, a strutting, smiling creature with a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm. ordan’s, each piece handmade by him and his small team, which works out of a shared Dartmouth studio. Every Quarrelsome Yeti product is unique, a little story unto itself. Geordan handprints and silkscreens using a manual press and simple processes to build up complex images, playing around with techniques to mix ink and build colour interactions.
“It’s my painting process,” he says. Geordan loves printmaking’s immediacy, affordability and accessibility, the way it turns everyday items into works of art. He shares that passion by giving printmaking workshops to the public. Geordan is also a founding member of The Dartmouth Makers, a non-profit society of craftspeople hell-bent on a vibrant local arts scene. Mostly, he relishes the act of making, the process of printing.
“That’s where I get the joy,” he says. To Geordan, printmaking the perfect medium for sharing ideas – and a laugh. He has simple test for ideas: “If I think it’s funny but I feel a little dumb about it, it’s worth making.”

I made this design about twelve years ago when my wife and I bought our first house in Dartmouth. For some reason we got a lot of flack about our choice to move to Dartmouth and I found myself saying this phrase quite a bit.
WelI, I figured that since have plans to move the studio from Burnside to a new space here in our home, might be a good time to revive the design. I shared these thoughts on social media a few days ago and it seems like you people agree.

After an unexpected delay our official first day will be this Friday, May 22(tomorrow!). It was a bummer to miss the opening weekend, but we are excited to have a fresh new epoxy floor in the shop. Lori and I have both been busy making new stuff and re-stocking old favourites for this season.

This year I made something specifically for the container shop. I wanted to make something fun, that referenced Saint John’s historic roots. My starting inspiration for this illustration was the iconic “ Loyalist Man” from Reversing falls. I had a lot of fun drawing the Loyalist costume and made a lot of sketches and developed a bunch of characters I call the “Lil’ Loyalists”.

Fun fact, while looking for reference images to try and properly draw the Loyalist's hat I randomly came across a picture of my DAD! Who is retired, but spends his summers as a tour guide in the City, he likes to dress the part (I think he looks great!).

I really enjoyed making the final image, competely hand drawn with pen on regular ole paper. Available as a hand printed art print or t-shirt. Made in Canada and printed by me! I hope you like it!
