Creative Movement classes ages 3-4yrs at IDA, in Main Street in Dartmouth, begin on Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th!

A movement-based class, with beginning technical steps, for young children to attend on their own.

Does your child enjoy dancing and moving at home?

Does your child like to use their imagination?

Are you looking for ways to socialize your child?

This is where they begin!

Children will develop listening skills, learn basic dance technique, incorporated with movement-based games and props such as scarves, balls, stuffies, ribbons on a stick, jingle bells, maracas, stepping stones, tunnels, and a parachute will be utilized!

Parent & Tot classes begin the weekend of Sept 26th at Illusion Dance Arts, Main St, Dartmouth!

💠Saturdays from 9-9:45am w/Miss Laurel
💠Sundays from 9-9:45am w/Miss Kaylee

A perfect class for tots from walking to 3yrs old, that love to move but aren’t old enough yet for a movement or dance class without a grown-up💙

Led by one of our trained professionals, these classes consist of movement-led games for the tot and adult to do together! Props such as scarves, balls, stuffies, ribbons on a stick, jingle bells, maracas, tunnels and a parachute will be utilized! We also love to bring out our Acrobatic equipment, including our air track, for the children to jump and bounce on. So much fun🤩

Great for those long, rainy days when we all get stuck inside and the kids are climbing the walls. The children burn off energy and meet new friends, while their parents assist them and get to socialize with other parents.

Four days of amazing classes: Acro; Jazz; Contemporary, Modern; Jumps & Turns; Lyrical; and Ballet!

Open to all dancers 9yrs & up from all studios, graduates and adults looking to train this summer🌞

*Any of our last season 2025-26 Firecrackers are welcome to attend any classes, even if they are under 9yrs old*

Andie Weir is a passionate and versatile dance artist with 17 years of
experience, including a decade in competitive dance. Andie graduated from Illusion Dance Arts in 2023, and is currently pursuing a BFA in Dance at York University. Andie has trained and taught in
a wide range of styles, including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern,
Lyrical, Acro, Musical Theatre, Tap, and Philippine Folk Dance.

Kerry Halpin is a dance artist based out of Halifax and Toronto who completed her BFA in Dance Choreography and Kinesiology at York University.
Kerry recently graduated with her MScOT at Dalhousie University and works
during the day as an Occupational Therapist. She is a CDTA Licentiate Member in Ballet and Modern and is well-versed in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern,
Acrobatics, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and Musical Theatre. Kerry is also an Acrobatic Arts Module 1 Certified Teacher.

Dawn Halpin is Co-Director of IDA, has taught dance since 1984, is a CDTA Licentiate Certified Teacher in Jazz and an Associate in Ballet, Tap, Modern, and Acro, ADAPT fully Certified Teacher in Dynamic Ballet, Jazz and Tap, Acrobatic Arts Module 2 Certified, with Alixa Flexibility and Progressing Ballet Technique training. Many of her dancers have pursued dance in their higher education at York, Concordia, School of Dance Ottawa, Toronto Dance Theatre, and TMU - including her two daughters - who both teach for IDA. Dawn believes in proper technique, a variety of dance forms, choreographers & teachers. She feels instructors must be educated and

Congratulations to our IDA dancers who participated in their CDTA National Ballet and Tap examinations this week💙

These dancers have worked diligently all season to prepare for their exams. Dance examinations are an important part of a dancer’s training, helping to build strong technical foundations, discipline, confidence, artistry, and goal-setting skills. They provide valuable feedback and encourage continuous growth and progress.

Preparing for an exam is a long process for both teacher and student, requiring dedication, consistency, and attention to detail. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and commitment shown by all of our exam candidates.

A special shoutout to Miss Kerry and Miss Rosie, who assisted Miss Dawn with final Ballet training sessions over the past several weeks, while Miss Jess prepared our Tap dancers for success.

We are so proud of each and every one of you and look forward to celebrating your achievements when the results arrive! ✨
