Canadian mezzo-soprano Christianne Bélanger is acclaimed internationally for her warm,
versatile voice and strong stage presence. She made her professional debut at Opéra de
Montréal in Menotti’s The Consul and was a member of the Académie at Opéra-Comique de
Paris (2013–14), appearing notably as Zobéide in Lecocq’s Ali Baba. In 2014 she premiered
the title role of Carmen, praised for both vocal and dramatic intensity.
In summer 2024, she made her debut with Cirque du Soleil as the main solo singer in
Sublim, a special event in Andorra la Vella. Her recent engagements also include Olga
(Onegin) and Mrs. Sedley (Peter Grimes) at Staatstheater Augsburg, Suzuki (Madama
Butterfly) at Landestheater Detmold, and Smeaton (Anna Bolena) at Theater Ulm. Her
repertoire also includes Nicklausse, Hänsel, Prinz Orlofsky, Siebel, Polina, and contemporary
creations, including Françoise in Pascal Zavaro’s Le coq Maurice. She performs regularly in
oratorio, art song, and chamber music, premiering works written for her and collaborating
with ensembles and orchestras internationally.
Parallel to her singing career, Christianne is a dedicated voice teacher. She has taught voice
to students of all levels since 2005, leads master classes and workshops, and works
regularly with choirs. She teaches in French, English, and German, and coaches French lyric
diction.
