November 8th marks Indigenous Veterans Day. This day honours the sacrifices and contributions made by Indigenous peoples throughout the history of Canada’s armed forces. Indigenous participation has brought unique and valuable skills, including exceptional tracking abilities, marksmanship, resourcefulness, and remarkable bravery and resilience.

Students are invited to join our indigenous team next week for a workshop on creating a beaded poppy with our Knowledge Holders, Dolly and Pete. Learn more about this workshop on the beading workshop posters at the Cranbrook campus.

Today, we honor Louis Riel, a visionary Métis leader, and advocate for Indigenous rights.

Riel's legacy reminds us of the ongoing journey toward justice, equality, and recognition for Métis and Indigenous peoples across Canada. His courage and determination continue to inspire us to work toward reconciliation and understanding.

Let us take this day to reflect on his contributions, celebrate Métis culture and heritage, and recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive future.
