It's been a good run, and a big thanks to all the families that enjoyed our arcade for birthdays and other fun occasions. We had an unfortunate visit from the bylaw officers (who were very pleasant and just doing their job). They said they had a complaint from someone, but wouldn't say who it was, that we are running an arcade in our home. We know for a fact that it wasn't our neighbors, and it wasn't hurting anyone to have the occasional party here, and in fact it was very well enjoyed by everyone that attended. I can only assume that a business owner in town wasn't happy that it was happening, and I guess that's fair. There is no way I could make this go if I had to pay high rent in a commercial space because there just isn't the population here to support it, so we will comply with the orders we have been given, and cease to offer this wonderful service to our community, until further notice! For now, I highly recommend calling Nick at the newly updated Ilo Ilo theatre building in Cumberland on Dunsmuir. He's building it into a fantastic new hardware store, with an excellent arcade upstairs with some great classic arcade games and an awesome selection of pinball machines, many of which are brand-new Stern machines.
We've enjoyed having everyone here for their parties, and I hope you will all stay in touch. I am NOT getting rid of my machines, and still love playing them all, but for now the bookings will cease. If I find a way to provide this service again in a way that is satisfactory to zoning laws, I will do it again.
It's a sad day in the neighborhood, you've all been so amazing and I've enjoyed meeting such great families and friends. Take care everyone, thanks, and God bless!
