Arcade Party will be closed between November 23rd and December 2nd, back on the 3rd of December and hope to see lots of you over the holidays and after! Oh, I should add... We have black lights setup now that really add to the atmosphere, giving it a cool glow! So wear something bright, neon, or even white glows really well. As always, we love it when people post photos of their parties and leave reviews for others to see. We've had great comments from everyone as they're leaving the party, so please share if you have time. Thanks, and hope to see you all soon!

Wow life is busy! I'm sure you can all relate... I do want to thank everyone that has been here this year to enjoy the arcade, you've all been really great and I've enjoyed meeting everyone. We hope to see you all again someday! If I could ask one thing, it would be for our guests to post something in our reviews section about their visit, and feel free to include photos! It would help for others to hear about us from people that have been here.

The arcade is not just for kids, although they sure do seem to love it! We've had a few adult only parties as well and it's a good chance to play some old favourites from the arcade days. I love all of these games, they're very challenging and fun... Good for the eye-hand coordination, and keeping the brain sharp! 😄

Also a note that we are going to be around for most of the summer and will have the room ready for your next arcade party!

FYI, I do repairs to Pinball machines and video games if anyone needs work done to their own machines. I've also worked on slot machines, shuffleboard scoreboards, bubble hockey, etc.

I've been meaning to get videos done of the various games to showcase them and give some advice on how to play them. I've taken some video but just need time to edit them and get them on youtube. I did post one on Robotron 2084, but the video is a little choppy and I need to find a way to fix that before I post it here.

I hope everyone is doing well and ready for another beautiful BC summer! Cheers,

Ian

I want to start doing video clips introducing the various games in the arcade, and showcasing some of the more famous old titles, as well as some overlooked classics as well. So as time permits I will do my best to get some short video clips made to help people enjoy their time in the arcade to the fullest. I counted the games this morning, and there is a total of 56 different titles here, with some being in multi-game machines. That's why I think it's important to show everyone all of these games and how to play them. Some of them I'm really good at, and some not so much lol, but I enjoy them all. I would encourage everyone to try something different when they're here. For me, the best game ever made is Robotron2084, a crazy intense robot killing/people saving game, and I'll probably showcase that first. 2nd place for me would be Sprint2, a black and white top down view racing game from 1976 that has amazing sounds and controls. Then there's Joust, Asteroids, Pacman, Galaga, Dig-Dug... and on and on... Stay tuned!

Here's the info you need to know for booking your party!

You will have the arcade to yourselves to enjoy as many games as you want during your time here! We only ask that your party respects the games and please treat them with care as they are our private collection and some are quite old. We ask that there be no smoking or alcohol on the premises, and that there be at least one adult in charge of the party. Please leave the room in the condition you found it.

Hours available for booking; 11am to 8pm Monday-Saturday, and 3pm to 8pm on Sundays.

We're keeping the rates the same as before, which is $60 for 1 hour, $110 for 2hours, and $150 for 3hours. All the games are on free play except the one pinball machine we have which is $0.50 for one play, or $1 for 3 plays. Pinball machines need a lot of maintenance and are very complex, which is why we need to charge the industry standard rate for it. Also, I've found that with pinball on free play, people will start a game and not finish it which leaves a ball waiting to be shot. Then the game runs an endless loop and constantly asks the player to shoot the ball, and also puts needless wear on the game. I always put a few credits in for free so that people can try it out and see what they think.

I also include delicious theatre-style popcorn for parties of two hours or more in length. If you would like popcorn for your 1 hour party, there is a $15 charge. There is a small table for snacks and drinks etc, we just ask that they be kept away from the games. As well I will go over all the games with you when you arrive so that you know how to play them, and of course I’m always available if you have any questions during the party.

If you would like to stop by and see the room before you book, we can always setup a time to meet and I will have all the games running for you to see.

I hope that answers most questions, but I will add to this if anything else comes to mind. We hope to see you soon!

It's been a long road, but we're getting the arcade looking and playing much better! Sorry there haven't been any updates for a while, but we have been working hard to ready the room for parties. We didn't want to post again until we had it looking better, and now we feel comfortable sharing what we've done so far. There will be constant improvements along the way, and we're always open to your suggestions. Here's some photos of what we started with, and where we are now. I'm really happy with the layout, and it took a while to decide what would work best. I have to say I like this setup, and it reminds me of a mini version of an 80's arcade. Those were the days! Please message me with any questions or comments, and I'll post more soon.

Guess what, we are staying in Courtenay! It's a long story, but with a happy ending and we're looking forward to a great new year and a fresh start in our new home.

The arcade room is going to be a heated garage this time, and we will be working to improve it as we go, but all the games are here from our last place and all are working great! I'm working on a new game system and hoping to have it working soon, but I will keep that a surprise until I know it's working, but I think you will LOVE IT, if I can get it working... wish me luck.

I will update our page as I go, and what the new rates will be for parties. I hope to see some familiar faces again, and some new ones as well! I can start taking bookings right away for anyone that feels the need for arcade action. As I said I am working on a few machines in the meantime but I can have the space ready for a party in short order. The game room is bigger now, but we don't have the extra living area like we did before, so I would have to say the limit is 8 people total to be comfortable. Let's get this party started! :)

There's been a change in plan. We have put our house up for sale, and could be moving back to the Okanagan area. We will see if we get what we want for the house, but if we do we will be moving. I'm sorry this came just after posting that we will be having arcade parties again, but we will honor all the bookings we have taken so far. I doubt that we will be going anywhere before the end of August, so if you want to book anywhere up until the end of July, that should be fine. Life has thrown so many curveballs our way, and we just have to accept that change can be good. I hope everyone understands and that your lives have stability and plenty of love and hope for the future. I will post again if anything happens with the house, and when we know if we're going to stay or go.

Hey everyone, it's time to start taking bookings again for Arcade Parties! There has been a lot of interest for us to start up again, and life is pretty much at a point where it will be possible for us to do, so let's start taking bookings!

There will be a couple of small changes to our service. The first small change is the pinball machine will be set to take quarters and Loonies now. The reasons are that it is a very expensive machine, and it needs the most maintenance out of all the games. Plus when people play it on free play they will run 4 credits into it, and leave it idling without finishing the games and it will constantly run and ask the player to shoot the ball. When it's set to coins, people will only play what they put in and they will usually finish their games. It's not a real money maker the way it's set, it's just this way so that the game is respected. It's 50 cents for one game, or $1.00 for 3 plays, so bring some coins with you! If you don't have change, we can always find some here for you. Now that it is set to coin play, you are able to win free games with a good score, or Match the last two numbers of your final score to the random number the game generates at the end of your game for a free game, just like in the arcades. We only have the one pinball machine, and it's the only game that will require coins to play, all others are on free play.

The other small change is that fresh movie theatre style popcorn will be $15.00 for all parties now and not included in the price. The popcorn is delicious, and made directly before the party. It's made with a combination of Coconut oil, clarified butter and movie theatre seasoning. If anyone is lactose intolerant, we can leave out the clarified butter upon request. We used to include it with 2 and 3 hour parties, but a lot of people will bring their own snacks, and don't need the popcorn on top of that.

We hope to see everyone coming out again, and having a great time playing the games! You can send me a request on Messenger, or email to [email protected]

Thanks!
