This doesnt affect about 95% of my clients, but I am often asked why I decided to discontinue colour.
The answer is simple: Supply and Demand!
I originally got into tattooing imagining I’d be creating very large, full colour pieces. Since immersing myself in this world, I have noticed tattooing is much like any other art. Requests change in relation to the area and, as business goes, we must adapt to our environment. The low demand for colour tells me there is no sense to continually replenish my ink stock.
So! I am adapting and using this decision as an opportunity to refine my craft in a way that the crowd wants. I will be concentrating on leveling up my techniques in the black/grey world. I will always have a soft spot for colour, but have grown to very much appreciate the simplicity of black ink.
As someone who has loads of colour tattoos, I can personally say, there are some perks to going black/grey:
1. You will never clash with any of your clothes
2. If you suck at wearing sunscreen, black has the best chance of survival
3. Black is the safest, least allergenic ink
3. Kids won’t stare at you like you’re a colouring book
4. Less likely to get sick of that specific shade of green you loved a decade ago
6. Black ink heals the fastest!
7. Save money….colour saturation takes time = $$
8. Black ink will stand the test of time compared to most colours.
Thanx everyone for staying with me through my many self discoveries! Apologies for the lack of tattoo related posted, I’ve been working on a lot of sleeves and “in progress” pics don’t always make sense.
