We were delighted to work with Labrador Campus, Memorial University to bring one of Glenn Gear’s installations from his 2025 exhibition, tillitâk | pulse to Labrador Campus’s Pye Centre!

The work, TakKik Rising, was printed on vinyl for the exhibition at Grenfell Art Gallery, and attached to DiBond Panels instead of directly applied to the wall. This way, the artwork could be reinstalled later and reduce waste of single-use vinyl.

Special thanks to our friends at The Rooms who supported this project by transporting the work to Labrador Campus, our colleagues at Labrador Campus, Memorial University’s Beautification Fund, and of course to Glenn Gear!

Since 2024, visitors, students, faculty, staff, and members of the broader community have been welcomed by Melissa Tremblett’s “caribou coat continuum” on the exterior balcony and “Another Dream”, a collaborative installation by Douglas Walbourne-Gough, Deantha Edmunds, and Erienne Rennick in the atrium and interior balcony. We are delighted to see this initiative continue, with artworks to be refreshed every three years to ensure these public spaces remain vibrant, engaging, and reflective of new artistic perspectives.

We are now accepting expressions of interest from Grenfell Visual Arts alumni for public art installations on the exterior and interior balcony spaces to be installed between late August 2027 to late August 2030.

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Lighting experiment and survey with LAMP
(Lighting for Analogue Missions Project)

The purpose of this research is to collect data on the effect of various natural (leafy) lighting patterns on mood, with the aim to improve living conditions of those living in enclosed, unchanging environments such as space mission crew quarters or submarine vessels, or other confined settings such as hospitals, care, or rehabilitation centres.

Who Can Participate?

🍁 If you are 19+ years of age

🍃 Willing to spend time in a tent by yourself for approximately 45 minutes

🍂 Willing to wear noise-suppressing earmuffs/earplugs

🌱 Those without light-related health issues

“I am my mother’s daughter” is an exhibition by Farheen Haq featuring video, sculptural installation, and lens-based work. It celebrates the resilience and knowledge systems of Haq’s mother who arrived in Canada in 1970 after an arranged marriage to her husband, to settle in the Niagara region (Ontario), Haudenosaunee Territory. The exhibition weaves together intergenerational relationships, connecting the experience of the artist’s mother with Haq’s experience as a child of that union and subsequently, its impact on her own experience as a mother. The artist’s work of inner housekeeping includes personal journeys through a family’s past as a way of moving forward, and political reconciliations determined by the territories on which she and her family arrived as guests. The artist explores how she carries the past and how she determines its legacy into the future.
