Look who just won the 2026 world pipe band championship! Woohoo! Way to go British Columbia.

Some sad news to report. Lew Ross has died. Glasgow-born Lew was the athletic director of the British Columbia Highland Games for many years and was a member of the Cdn. Scottish Athletic Federation Hall of Fame. Lew was also a wonderful presenter at our cultural tent, and many people have fond memories of his presentations. In 2019, we named our athletic field after Lew and he was there to throw out the first ceremonial stone (see photo) at age 80+.

Our current athletic director Karyn Dallimore says, "I am very heartbroken. Such a wonderful man, friend and the foundation of our heavy events athletics here in BC. This is a great loss for his family, his friends and the throwing community."

Condolences from the whole highland games family are extended to his children Fraser & Deirdre and his grandchildren.
