It’s no secret I hate AI and everything to do with it. Im not stating this to start a debate, we all have our own opinions (it’s what makes us all so amazing!) I try to avoid AI, which lately includes weeding out the AI generated crochet and knitting patterns. This will forever be a learning curve as I find it’s getting trickier to distinguish between a really nice looking pattern to a fake one.
I have the honour of helping a client with a custom order. We discussed some patterns found on Etsy, as a couple of them were requested, and I felt that they were AI and was not confident the product would look like the advertised product in the Etsy listing. I found a similar pattern for the same product that looked pretty legit. Well folks, I got duped anyway. Luckily, Etsy stepped in and refunded my purchase as the Seller never did return my messages or request. I started the pattern I purchased and I very quickly noticed what I was creating was not what was advertised.
I wanted to share what I made with the pattern I purchased and what I managed to create on my own using just the picture provided in the Etsy listing. It is a lot more work than I bargained for as I’m basically creating a pattern for something I’ve never made before, from scratch, but I have to say…I’m thoroughly enjoying myself! It’s amazing watching myself take techniques and stitches from other projects I’ve made and combine them to turn this picture into reality.
It’s not perfect but given what I understood my skill level to be, I think it’s pretty dang good!
