Figuring out the color palette of my new large painting, which is a gift to one of my favourite humans on the planet, 🫰

Sometimes I need to play around with different color combinations before one of them sings the loudest to me.

Once the colors click and make me feel good, it’s easy for me to surrender to the flow of watercolors.

And what emerges from this happy place is a painting that makes me very happy, as well as the person receiving it! I went live in our Creative Club FB group to show this entire process. Catch the replay there (🔗 to join the free FB group is in my bI0).

In other news, I’ve realized that the solution to all my life problems is waking up early. 6am is ideal.

When I do that, I have the time to start slow, and get a good hour of painting time in before I begin the day and get on with my entrepreneur duties. This way my creative process sets the right foundation for my other (boring) work.

The first half of this year my creative muse only visited in the night. But now my season has shifted. Hoping to seal the habit of waking up early before the days get too short.

HELP!! I can't tell if this is good design or bad. Is this design easily readable for you? Or are the staggered words making it confusing?

If I put all the words together in the centre, they're blocking the paintings. This way you get to see exactly which landscapes you'll learn in the bundle. (There's actually another Northern Lights painting missing here.)

I think it looks great, but I'm not sure.

First painting of 2024. ✨ I’m convinced that all my life problems will be solved if I just keep painting.

I have so many things to say about wrapping up 2023. I’ve wanted to say it for the last 2 weeks.

But I’m currently in this inspired space of going back to my old creative habits in the newness of the year (which is weird because I’m not a super New Year’s girlie.)

So I’m not feeling like talking about 2023 yet. You might see me talk about it in a few days, or maybe in July. 😅

Hopefully it’ll still be relevant? Hopefully it’ll still help you.

Anyhoo, I’m lying in bed, still gazing lovingly at the color palette for this painting. The warms and the cools are in perfect harmony. ✨

You need to know the reality, especially if you’ve been secretly feeling bad looking at all the 2023 highlight reels…

I had a bunch of high points this year but the dips were scary and dark and painful.

But something about 2024 feels different. My friend said that even astrologically, the year coming up is far more gentle on our energies.

If you read till here, I’m celebrating you for the warrior you’ve been through this year. I see you. I celebrate you. I love you. 🫶

I painted this monochrome landscape to represent the calming stillness I found in my heart as I dived headfirst into my watercolor practice.

You can’t help but feel grounded when you paint with pigments and water. I found it enormously healing.

What’s more - I experienced a sudden flight of my heart towards ✨HOPE✨ as soon as I started making art full time again. :)

That’s what the birds flying towards the horizon symbolize.

In a year that has been especially hard on all of us, each in its own terrible way, I can sense of collective hope as we end 2023. Can you sense it too?

I can definitely see many folks with bruised hearts returning to their creative practice, especially in Nov and Dec.

This was one of the roughest year of my whole life of 32 years and the moment I resumed my creative practice in Oct, the tides started turning.

It was especially liberating to paint this on a bigger scale because I moved my whole body to paint this and it feels incredible to the nervous system.

And that’s nothing to be ashamed of! However, you can begin to empty that drawer/shelf today.

Today you can pull out one sheet of paper and paint a landscape, even if it sucks.

You can open up that sketchbook and paint that reference picture you can’t stop thinking about at night.

You can make a total mess in your sketchbook with those new paints you haven’t yet opened, and say “I am ALLOWED to make a mess and love myself for it.”

Tell me - will be emptying your drawers and shelves just a bit today? 🫶

This painting found me rather than me finding it. It emerged from a play date with just one color - my Trupti’s Grey from

I deliberately stepped out of the way and decided to follow where the pigment + water dance was taking me. This landscape is what came through.

If you’re anything like me, it probably makes you take a deep breath.

This is what I love about working with watercolors.

Instead of trying to control it like most people do, allow the water to do its thing, become its partner and dance with it. Magical things happen when you do that. :)

In many ways, this is how you co-create with the Universe to manifest your dreams. You play, express yourself, embody your future self and surrender control to the divine dance with the Universe. What emerges is a reality that is for your highest good.

If you're a perfectionist, watercolors are the perfect antidote for you because they’ll teach you to let go of control and surrender to let something beautiful come through.
