and poet-activists.This monthly event is a “poetry open mike” and is one of a number of “poetry in Cobourg spaces” initiatives launched by Ted and community members working together. “piCs” exists to fulfill specific aspects of the mandate from the Town of Cobourg as outlined in the Terms of Reference for the position of Laureate:

1. to launch a public project; and,

2. to create legacy projects that will continue in the local community after a given Laureate's term ends;

3. to participate in the strong and thriving literary life of our Town; and,

4. to ensure that our community encourages self-expression by youth through spoken word and written poetry.
