I recently did a poll on the finishing style for this smaller series I am working on - I am thankful for everyone's input as it was very insightful.

Finishing with oil sticks won out over the inks so here I'm showing that process. I also used wax pastels and gel sticks.

The 1st one is done with oil and pastels sticks. The 2nd one is done mainly with inks.

Painting the entire textured base layer one colour quiets things down for me so I can decide where I want to go next and what I want to emphasize.

Sometimes, even after working on a piece for a while, and I'm not happy with it - I will paint it out and start again with a fresh perspective.
