We had a great week at the tavern and I’d like to thank everybody for coming for whatever brought you my way.
I had a few quiet nights, which is normal whenever I have a live band, but we had a decent turnout for Karaoke night and for “Almost Bon Jovi”.
I had the pleasure of hosting the Celebration of Life for a local guy who spent a lot of time there over the years and requested that they all gather there. There were a few mis-communications and I think both parties (the family, and I) were a bit stressed beforehand about how it was all going to work out because my band had to do a soundcheck.
In the end I think it went well, and not only that- but probably just the way Doran envisioned it. Sometimes we don’t understand what the master plan really is, but I think it was pretty cool that Doran had a band play at his Celebration of Life. I don’t think anyone would have thought to plan it that way, but it sure suited the atmosphere that I think he would have wanted.
I went to the Little Paws Cat Cafe for their fundraising barbecue but because of the rain, the service was delayed and I had to get to the tavern so I had a delicious latte instead and gave my kids some money for the barbecue and they stayed there with my sister.
Just by coincidence, one of the guys in the band had half a sandwich leftover and he offered it to me. We didn’t realize at the time that it would be the only thing I had time to eat for the rest of the day, so he really saved me!
The band were awesome and they transformed the tavern into a full blown arena set up! I couldn’t even believe that was the same space!
Unfortunately, I think people were shy to go and dance because some of the band members were on the same ground level.
Luckily, my sisters not only moonlight as karaoke DJs, singers, bartenders, bus girls, and waitresses; but they also lead by example and got the dance floor going- with a lot of help from a confident cowgirl! 🤠
I spent the night in the kitchen making nachos consecutively, thinking “I’m gonna eat right after this….”
It never happened. I got a tough lesson about the importance of scheduled breaks and self-care that night. I was starting to feel nauseous from my empty stomach and started to get a headache from dehydration. When nacho-fest finally ended, I had to go in the back and drink two bottles of water and eat two bowls of soup.
I felt like a Mogwai until my food kicked in, but by then the party was over and I didn’t get to dance or sing with my sisters this time.
I was so burnt out on Sunday that I didn’t even turn my signs on.
I had a few young gentleman that had FINALLY stopped in to see this historic tavern. They have been coming up to this region for 30+ years, but after seeing it on one of those TVO specials, they decided they had to stop in!
All in all, it was a really great week and I am grateful to everyone who comes in to support me, & keeps me doing the job that I love! 💕
Special shout out to Robin & Trish who come over to the tavern for karaoke, to play some pool, to eat dinner, to have a drink after a ball game, and to watch our bands. I think you officially bring the fan club vibes….. not for the 80’s & 90’s- but for the Cobalt Miner’s Tavern! So you are also getting free t-shirts on your next visit!
Thank you again to Daniel from Ghost Solutions for donating tickets to our event. Such a kind and generous gesture. I appreciate your continuous support in my venture!
Thank you to the guys in the band, my door guys, my husband & sisters, and all the awesome people that bought tickets to the show. We couldn’t make it happen without your support! *group hug*
