Indigenous Quest for the Bay 2026 documents an incredible 300+ km winter journey from Gillam to Churchill, Manitoba, reconnecting Indigenous participants with the land, culture, and each other.
Traveling across frozen trails and through extreme northern conditions — including wind chills nearing –50°C — participants pushed through physical and mental challenges, discovering strength, resilience, and the power of community along the way.
More than just a snowmobile trip, this expedition is about reconnection: to the land, to culture, to traditional foods, and to stories shared across generations. Along the trail, participants reflected on identity, heritage, and the importance of encouraging Indigenous youth and communities to experience the land and learn from one another.
From moments of struggle and rescue on the trail, to laughter, wildlife sightings, and emotional arrivals in Churchill, the journey became something unforgettable for everyone involved.
Thank you to all participants, facilitators, and supporters who made this year’s Quest possible.
