What a delight it was to close out our wonderful Summer season with this memorable performance by Old Man Luedecke and Rose Morrison! Rose captivated the audience with her delicate voice and untamed fiddle playing, and Chester’s folk treasure Old Man Luedecke brought an infectious energy with foot stomping banjo ballads and inspiring tunes.

Thank you to all of our amazing patrons, and everyone who helped run this performance. A special thanks as well to our event sponsor The Rope Loft The Rope Loft for helping us to continue to bring special events such as this to the Chester Playhouse stage.

Check out this exciting showcase of globally honoured short films, in “The Asbury Short Film Concert”, at the Chester Playhouse! 🎥🎞️🍿

The evening will feature a mix of outstanding comedy, drama and animated shorts in a fast paced, eclectic lineup including Oscar nominees, “Best of Show” awardees from North American film festivals, as well as international honourees, and a “Canadian Spotlight”!

Don’t miss Chester Basin-born drag artist Brandt Eisner (aka Lickity Splitt) in “Homecoming Queen!” 👸🌈

This surreal spectacle showcases drag at its most imaginative — from avant-garde divas to wildly inventive characters — each act crafted to surprise, delight, and leave audiences wanting more.

Joining Lickity and Persnickety Splitt for this special homecoming event is a dynamic lineup of Halifax-based performers, bringing additional glamour, grit, and powerhouse presence to the stage.

The show runs alongside Brandt’s solo exhibition "Splitt – The Art of Drag" at Chester Art Centre throughout October 2026—offering audiences a chance to experience both the performance and the process behind it.

Homecoming Queen promises an unforgettable evening of bold artistry, high glamour, and electrifying performance! ✨

Watch fate unfold before your eyes with our screening of The Cycle of Love, in partnership with the Lunenburg Doc Fest!

In this extraordinary true story, PK, a 23-year-old street artist from Delhi, sets off with a handful of paint brushes and a second-hand bicycle on a 6,000 mile journey across Europe and Asia to find Lotta, the woman who captured his heart during her visit to India. 💕🚲

The Playhouse was bursting with Maritime energy this weekend! Opening act Moira & Claire awed us with their magical harmonies and thoughtful lyricism. Daniel James McFadyen lit up the stage and took us on a storytelling journey in every song - from family tales to hilarious observations, Daniel’s interactive set had us hollering and singing along the whole evening (and even had us do a tidal wave! 🌊).

A huge thanks to all involved in producing such a memorable show, from the volunteers, to the staff, the musicians, and as always you: the audience! ✨
