Hey everyone!
It's Miss Ricki here. Sorry this page has been quiet lately. Remember, you will find all updates at our main page: Carlson's School of Dance.
Though this page is quiet, offering dance classes in Chemainus is still so important to me. I was lucky enough to begin teaching in Chemainus out of the elementary school MANY years ago for Carlson's. When classes were no longer running through Carlson's, I started up my own little studio in 2014 at the Chemainus Legion. It was such a special studio with a beautiful community feeling. We had great performances in the hall and joined up with Celtic Rhythm Dancers to perform on the big Cowichan Performing Arts Centre stage many times. The studio continued while I had my own child in 2017 and through COVID shutdowns on Zoom. Through it all many wonderful memories were made and each student has a special place in my heart.
In 2018 I became part of the ownership team at Carlson's School of Dance and it was soon clear it would be easier to run the two studios together. Summit Dance became part of Carlson's. The best part was that now I didn't have to write two newsletters!😂
In the fall of 2022, my kiddo was off to Kindergarten and I had a large studio to run, so I was grateful to find another fantastic teacher (Miss Hanna) to carry on with classes in the Chemainus area. It was a hard decision to no longer be teaching the classes myself, but I knew I was leaving them in good hands.
That brings us to this coming dance season! I am so excited that Miss Hanna will be returning to teach some fantastic classes, including 8 week sessions for the little dancers and the adults through Parks and Recreation.
