There’s a particular kind of joy in being part of theatre.

You meet people you might never have met. You build something together. You laugh a lot. You occasionally wonder how on earth it’s all going to come together.

And then it does. ❤️

Being part of *Come From Away* has been an especially lovely reminder of why it matters. We get to help tell real stories about ordinary people showing extraordinary kindness to one another. Stories that make people laugh, cry, remember and, hopefully, leave the theatre feeling a little differently than when they walked in.

And you don’t have to be on stage to be part of that.

Theatre Kent is hosting a Volunteer Open House for anyone curious about getting involved. There are so many ways to help bring a story to life, and you might just find a place you didn’t know you were looking for.

Come see what theatre is all about. We’d love to have you. 🎭

We're hosting an info session for anyone who's interested in getting involved in Theatre Kent. It's just a quick half hour where we will share a bit of information, you can ask any questions, and meet some of the people involved.

We have opportunities of all sizes. You could be looking to lead a major project, or just to spend a few hours painting a set or tracking down some props. We want to met you!

We hope to see you there - and please spread the word...

When you’re telling stories rooted in real people, sometimes the best thing you can do is listen and learn...

We’ve been incredibly grateful to members of our own community who have shared their time, knowledge and traditions with our cast as we prepare to tell these stories on stage.

Muhammad Iqbal from the Chatham Islamic Centre joined us to work with Lee, who portrays Ali, helping us approach the prayer scene with greater understanding, care and authenticity.

We also welcomed Karen Green, who worked with Colin and Lisa, portraying the Rabbi and Eddie. Karen helped with everything from costume details and pronunciation to understanding the meaning and significance behind the words being spoken. Karen is also a local author, and you can find her book, *Yellow Birds*.

These are details that matter. And we are so thankful to Muhammad and Karen for trusting us with their knowledge, answering our questions and helping us tell these moments with the respect they deserve.

It really does take a community to welcome everyone to the Rock. 💛

Well, this is fitting. Today I’m asking for a little kindness from strangers myself. 😂💛

I posted Meg’s story earlier… minus HALF THE VIDEO.

Oops. Take two. 🎬

You never know what the person being kind to you might be carrying themselves.

And Meg’s story is absolutely worth hearing to the end.

Community theatre requires a very specific set of skills. 🚨😂

Sometimes being a good neighbour is as simple as picking up the toll. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Steve Becker, who plays Garth in Come From Away, shares a small moment of kindness from a friendly neighbour on the other side of the border.

No grand gesture. Just a stranger saying, in their own little way, I’ve got this one. ❤️

🎶 A little Come From Away trivia…

Do you know the famous song playing during the Screech In scene? 👀🍻

Drop your guess in the comments! If you already know the answer, maybe give everyone else a tiny hint instead of giving it away. 😉

No prizes… just bragging rights and the satisfaction of knowing your Newfoundland musical trivia. ❤️✈️

Which production has your name on it?
