You can find past issues of The Buzz online! Scroll through, pick a random issue from the archives and see how many of these you can find:

✔️ A musician you still follow
✔️ An event you attended
✔️ A restaurant you still crave
✔️ A face you recognize
✔️ Something that makes you say, "I forgot all about that!"

Fair warning though. May result in a nostalgia deep dive.

The archive currently goes back six years and we're adding more all the time!

What brings people to PEI? The beaches? The seafood? Anne?

In the June issue of The Buzz, Jane Ledwell argues there’s another piece of the story that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves: the artists, musicians, storytellers, performers, and cultural organizations helping shape Island life today.

This month’s Creative Careers column explores the relationship between culture and tourism and asks how can we welcome visitors without getting stuck telling the same story about ourselves over and over again?

It makes us think about what happens when we invest in the culture being created today, not just the culture people expect to find when they arrive.

Filed under Things We Love To See: A 134-year-old theatre in Souris having a renaissance and is continuing to build momentum this summer with a world-class lineup.

June alone brings the Festival of Small Halls to the venue (starting tomorrow, June 13th), a rare North American performance from Carsie Blanton and The Burning Hell following their sold-out European tour, plus a return visit from Vishtèn alongside Grammy Award-winning Cajun fiddler Louis Michot.

And that’s *just* June.

Your next great summer night out could happen in a church hall, community centre, or a tucked-away venue you’ve driven past a hundred times.

The PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls is back June 12th–21st, bringing music, storytelling, comedy, and dance to rural communities across the Island. With more than 40 acts performing in 30 shows from tip to tip, the festival feels both big and local at the same time.

It has something for everyone- from fiddle tunes, folk, stand-up, storytelling.

In the June issue of The Buzz, Julie Bull profiles Melissa Peter-Paul, a Mi’kmaw artist from Abegweit First Nation whose quillwork is rooted in land, family, and ancestral knowledge.

From harvesting mayflowers to gathering sweetgrass and birch bark, Melissa shares how creativity and connection to the land are woven together in her life and work. What began with a workshop in 2014 has grown into a full-time business but for Melissa, quillwork goes beyond making art to legacy, learning, and finding your way back to something that feels like it was always meant for you.

The June issue of The Buzz features Emerging by Island artist Teresa Doyle on the cover. Doyle is a vocal explorer and visual artist and has a passion for pushing the boundaries of her voice. In recent years, she has taken her love of vocal improvisation and applied it to abstract art.

Doyle has had a life-long passion for painting. She created the artwork for a number of her album covers. She works in acrylic, ink, pastel, collage and watercolour and will be teaming up with Haley Lewis for a summer long exhibition at Gallery Cafe on Great George Street in Charlottetown.

You know that feeling when you see those sudden flocks, hear the layered birdsong and you stop mid-walk because something catches your eye (even if you’re not sure it’s actually a bird at first)?

This month’s Cove Journal follows one evening walk that turns into a full-on appreciation of what’s happening all around us this time of year, from geese overhead to herons hiding in plain sight.

It’s a bit of a nudge to get outside (and maybe bring binoculars next time), so put on your sneakers before you start to read so you’re ready to go.
