FOUR DAYS LEFT. YOUR PLAY COULD BE NEXT.

Got a theatre script? A wild theatrical idea you've been itching to explore? A story that doesn't quite fit the traditional mould?

We want to hear from you!

The Arts Guild's Not The Summer Season (NTSS), in collaboration with Playwright's Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC) is looking for bold, original work from PEI theatre artists ready to take their ideas to the next stage.

We're selecting THREE projects for a supported development process culminating in workshop performances in February 2027.

And we mean 'play' broadly. Experimental theatre, unconventional storytelling, works in progress, and boundary-pushing ideas are all welcome.

You don't need a polished product. You need a compelling idea and the drive to develop it.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE OCTOBER 25 AT MIDNIGHT.

Four days. Three opportunities. What's stopping you?

Apply now and make something happen. Submit a short synopsis, a script or outline, and brief artist bio to [email protected] with the subject NTSS Submission to be considered.

You’ve got ideas. Now what?

A character you can’t stop thinking about. A scene that keeps playing in your head. A tiny spark of an idea that might become something… if only you knew where to start.

'Start Anywhere: Beginning the Creative Process' is a one-night workshop for turning those sparks into something you can put on a stage. Explore practical, hands-on ways to generate original material, get curious about what’s rattling around in your brain, and start making something out of it.

No need to have it all figured out. That’s kind of the point.

Led by Benton Hartley, PEI playwright, actor, director, producer, and improviser, this session is all about getting out of your head and into the creative process.

Monday, October 26 | 6:00–9:00 pm | $60 | The Arts Guild

Register by visiting www.theguildpei.com

Whether you’re an experienced theatre-maker or someone who’s been quietly wondering, "Could I actually make something?”...come start somewhere.

CALL FOR NEW PEI PLAYS!

The Arts Guild is looking for PEI playwrights and theatre creators for the inaugural Not The Summer Season: New PEI Play Festival, coming in February 2027!

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 25, 2026 AT MIDNIGHT

We’re seeking complete or near-complete new theatrical works that are ready to enter an active period of dramaturgy, development, workshop, and rehearsal, culminating in a public workshop production at The Arts Guild.

And when we say play, we mean it broadly: traditional text-based plays, movement-based performance, non-linear and absurdist work, devised and interdisciplinary performance, non-text-based work, and other approaches to live performance are all welcome.

We’re looking for work from creators currently living on PEI and available for in-person collaboration. Projects should already have a strong foundation, be ready to move into development quickly, and be achievable within the scale and resources of our black box theatre. Emerging and established creators are equally encouraged to apply.

What do selected artists receive?
Financial compensation, a public workshop production in February 2027, professional dramaturgical support through Playwright's Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC), access to Arts Guild spaces and resources, a supported workshop and development process, and a production director and actors as needed.

“Ready” doesn’t mean “finished.” We’re looking for projects developed enough to make meaningful use of a short, concentrated development period and move confidently toward workshop production. Readiness will be determined by the selection committee.

TO SUBMIT BY MIDNIGHT, OCTOBER 25, 2026:
Email [email protected] with the subject NTSS Submission and include:
- A brief synopsis
- Your complete script or outline
- A playwright/artist bio of no more than one page

WASHROOMS ARE FOR EVERYONE.

In PEI, the law protects people from discrimination based on gender identity and gender expression, which includes when accessing public services and facilities. The PEI Human Rights Commission recognizes that people have the right to use washrooms based on their lived identity.

At The Arts Guild, we’ve kept it simple: our washrooms aren’t gendered.

No gender policing. No questions about who belongs where. No one needs to justify who they are before they walk through the door.

Let people p*e in peace. Let people be themselves. Let people belong.

Call them washrooms. Call them bathrooms. Call them toilettes. Whatever you call them, they’re for everyone.
