Where to begin, other then to say a huge thank you to the sellout crowd who joined us tonight for the 2nd Annual PEI Musicians Unite fundraising concert. We also need to thank the incredible Island Music Community members who came out to share their time and talents in memory of those we have lost, and to encourage those who are just beginning their musical journey.

Special thanks goes out to:
- Niall MacKay
- The Blue Crystals “David Altass, Ian Hunter, Gary Cudmore and Paul Chandler”
- Cynthia MacLeod
- Kelly Mooney
- Marcella Richard
- Kim Albert & Mike Arsenault
- Maxine MacLennan & Norman Stewart
- George MacPhee
- Peter Burke
- Brian Langille
- Brian Knox
- Brian Blacquiere
- Our one and only “Roadie” Allie MacDonald
- Our door staff Wilf McKenna, Bernie Milligan, Autumn Docherty
-Shane & The Crew from the Knights of Columbus in the Bar
- Show Sponsor PEI Mutual Insurance Company for providing funding for the hall rental.

Tonight together we raised approximately $3765 at the show, with a donation from the Knights of Columbus for $75 from a portion of the Bar Sales we have reached $3840. This means that the PEI Musicians Legacy Award, will again be distributed to 11 Island High-schools. Your support of this show will allow us to provide 11 students from the Class of 2026 with a $350 bursary.

With sincere thanks, to all who helped make this happen.

All the best,
Kendall Docherty

Island Musicians Unite in Memory - show update

A special night of music is taking place on Wednesday, May 27th at the Jack Blanchard Centre in Charlottetown, in memory of Island musicians we have lost along the way. In the past week we lost one of our very own band members, Heartz Godkin. Heartz was one of the founding partners of the Ceilidh in the City and a regular face on our stage for our first 10 years, before illness took away his ability to perform. Heartz had a musical career that spanned over 60 years, performing in some of the Islands busiest bands over those 60 plus years, with thousands of performances to his credit. With the permission of Heartz’s Family we will be honouring him in addition to many other incredible Island Musicians we have lost over the past year. This will be the second in what we hope will be an annual event to honour and remember all the musicians we loose each year to age, illness or other tragic events. The concert will feature a cast of Island Musicians including Niall MacKay, David Altass, Paul Chandler, Gary Cudmore, Norman Stewart, Maxine MacLennan, Kelley Mooney, Cynthia MacLeod, Kim Albert to name a few as well the host band of Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Brian Knox and Brian Langille and Brian Blacquiere. This concert will serve as a fundraiser for the 2nd Annual PEI Musicians Legacy Award, a Memorial Bursary which will be distributed to Highschools across the Island to a student who is graduating from Grade 12 that plans on following a musical path in life. Last year’s fundraising concert seen 11 graduating students receive a $350 bursary, and we hope to be able to do the same this year. The concert will take place on Wednesday May 27th, from 7:30-9:30pm (Doors Open at 6:30) at the Jack Blanchard Centre, 7 Pond Street in Charlottetown admission is $15/person. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the cause after the generous donation of time and talent by the featured Island musicians and hall sponsorship by PEI Mutual. Additional information is available by emailing [email protected] or by calling Docherty at 902-569-1133

Thousand of memories, laughs and shows together, he was simply one of the best bass players around. Heavens Band just got one of the best, we will love you forever and miss you dearly Heartz.
