About the instructor:
Jennifer Carson has grown up on Island stages and shares her passion for dance and performance with her students. Carson started step dancing in 1991 and began her teaching career in 2001. In the fall of 2009, Carson was very excited to use her knowledge and expertise to open Reel Talent School of Dance. Carson has performed throughout New Bruswick, Nova Scotia, New England and of course from one tip of Prince Edward Island to the other. Some performances include The Royal Military Tattoo, the televised Canada Day Celebrations at Confederation Landing Park and she has shared the stage with acts including The Rankin Family, Ashley MacIsaac, Lennie Gallant and Great Big Sea. In 2003, Carson had the honour of performing live on the Tomorrow Land stage at Walt Disney World, in Florida. Carson’s students have delighted audiences with their enthusiastic smiles and lively choreographed dances. Many students are now following in her footsteps and winning prizes at Maritime competitions. Carson's choreographies have won 7 Eastern Canadian Championship titles which earned them an invite to dance at Walt Disney World, and students under her direction have gone on to compete in and win the BATD Rosebowl championship. Members of Carson’s dance company performed in front of rock royalty, Gene Simmons of KISS and for the 2011 East Coast Music Awards. Most recently, Reel Talent was awarded 4 back to back Lobster Carnival Step Dance Championships, The Limelight Spirit award (for constructive and caring relationships at competition) and the prestigious BATD Rosebowl for Most oustanding performance in traditional dance for Carson's choreography "Fight Song", the first time it has been awarded to a group on PEI. While teaching, Carson stresses the importance of enjoying the music, smiling and most importantly, having fun while dancing.
