To our community,

On June 1st, 2026 during the City of Cambridge’s Pride Flag raising event, an elected official misgendered and proceeded to silence a transgender youth speaker who eloquently delivered a speech about their experience with transgender harassment.
We were deeply disappointed to witness the actions of an official who should be representing every member of our thriving community here in Cambridge. Pride has always been rooted in the voices of those who have been marginalized, and when those voices are interrupted or diminished, it undermines the very purpose of the gathering.

As artists, community members, and allies, we believe that leadership carries a responsibility to listen—especially to those whose voices have too often been ignored. We stand in solidarity with transgender and gender-diverse individuals, and we reaffirm Penny & Pound’s commitment to creating spaces where everyone can speak openly, safely, and without fear of being silenced.

Pride belongs to all of us. It is strongest when every voice is heard.

Today and every day, we stand with our trans and q***r communities. We will never stop fighting for you.
