This Friday night The Irish Real Life Festival presents a thrilling night of transatlantic Celtic music as Cape Breton fiddle icon Ashley MacIsaac joins forces with North Atlantic Drift!

Rooted in the rich traditions of Ireland, Scotland, and Canada’s East Coast, this special concert celebrates the centuries-long musical exchange carried by the North Atlantic. With MacIsaac’s electrifying fiddle style and North Atlantic Drift’s multi-instrumental, cross-cultural sound, audiences will enjoy an up-close, high-energy performance that honours tradition while boldly reimagining it for today.

A supergroup of Canadian folk musicians plans a show in Cambridge on February 28, 2026, at Wesley United Church.

Portage offers high-energy fiddling from many traditions meeting innovative arrangements combining guitar, cello, piano, feet, vocals and more.

The members of Portage are: Alanna Jenish, Anne Lederman, Erynn Marshall, Laura Risk, and Christina Smith. They are rooted in Newfoundland, Quebec, Ontario, the Prairies, Appalachia and the West Coast.

They released their first CD in 2024 and have played the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival, the Goderich Celtic Roots Festival, Hugh’s Room Live and Algoma Trad.

The Cambridge show is part of an Ontario tour, before a trip to Scotland.

The Cambridge event is organized by Wesley United Church and Mill Race Folk Traditions.
