I prepped these frozen fish goop spoons for the cats several days ago, but then I ended up in the hospital. Getting to hang these up for their—and our— enjoyment is one of the many reasons I'm looking forward to getting home.

But I have to admit, not having to think about where my next meal is coming from has been very nice, and hospital food has improved significantly. In fact, now that I think about it, it no longer looks or tastes like fish goop on a spoon.

Per the request/suggestion of someone I met at a market, I've modified an old drawing from containing w**e to depicting ch*****ne so that it's more accurate to the shape of the glass. I've done this so I can expand it into an art series of popular drinks.

I have a list of drinks already, but if there's one you want to request, let me know and I can add it to the list or bump it up the queue.

I am, both fortunately and unfortunately, in the hospital again. I should hopefully be discharged in under a week so that I can get ready to see you all at the Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival!

I got my amazing tattoos from artists that attend the convention, and I highly recommend checking it (and my booth) out if you're considering getting one done. I will be selling single-use rights to my art for use exactly as is or as inspiration for tattoos.

Anyway, the new, limited print, 3-piece series titled Cat La Vie is availa for purchase ONLY through The Regal Cat Cafe in Calgary.

A chunk of the proceeds go to The Meow Foundation. This happens to be where my husband and I got two of our cats. Give them a chance and they can also help you find your next cat/master/love/friend.

My husband was out late, so I went to bed without him. I bribed the cats with treats and led them out of the bedroom, as per the norm. Aly, however, refused to leave. Eventually, I closed the door, locked her in with me, and texted my husband to let him know.

After he got home, he occasionally checked the room, but she was never there. A couple of hours later, she finally met Rob at the door and sauntered out.

About an hour after that, we discovered that the delightful little s**t spent her unsupervised time teaching herself how to open dresser drawers, and then proceeded to open every single drawer at ground level.

My husband made this discovery. In the dark. With his shins. He found all three drawers between the door and his side of the bed this way.

I'm pretty sure the only reason she can't figure out how to open the bedroom and bathroom doors is because she doesn't weigh enough to apply the necessary amount if torque. Even so, I figure it's just a matter of time.

I got my blood drawn for some very specialized tests, and the only lab that does it is the Children's Hospital. You know...

In other news, I'm coining the phrase, "Paying it backward"
Anyone with a chronic illness understands this concept intimately. It's when you need to get s**t done, so you push through the pain, the weakness, the nausea, and the exhaustion. You push through, and you borrow from tomorrow's spoons.

But then the next day comes, and you're worse than before because you already spent the time, energy, and brain power—which was meant for today—yesterday. And now, you're paying it backward.

The real problem is that paying it backward charges interest. The amount you borrow will cost two, three, even four times as much to replace. This means that a single day of borrowing will require several day, weeks, or even longer, to recover.

Some may ask, "Then why do that to yourself?"

To which I answer, "Because we have to."
