In light of May being mental health awareness month I thought I would share a piece of poetry that some people may be able to relate to.

Internal warfare is what I like to call the conversations I have with my self sometimes everyday. Conversations that over time become one sided. I know it’s not true but sometimes I physically cannot make it true. I do not like it what’s so ever and for a long time I was even ashamed. I do not like sharing this but sometimes it is necessary.

Poetry saved me from a very dark time years ago. Poetry still saves me when I hit a very harsh low and to this day my poetry is my why. To show the world that you are not alone and it’s okay if your mental health is not as strong as the people you walk beside. Everyday is a new day. New thoughts, new ups, new downs. You’re not alone.

Who ever said writing a book was easy was lying…

I’ve stared the first draft my second book. As exciting and fun as it is, it is also terrifying and extremely difficult. I am challenging myself as a writer and as a person. I am exploring what it is to be an author and a poet while I am growing as a person. And as shown in this section, I am being vulnerable. Which to those who are close to me know that is my second biggest fear.

I hope you are enjoying growing with me as I am with you. I can’t wait to share this work of art with the world ✨
