Turner Danceworks is a studio that offers a wide variety of recreational and competitive dance classes. We train our dancers to have a good solid foundation, while encouraging them to explore the boundaries of movement and their own passion for dance. Based on commitment and knowledge, our qualified staff inspires dancers to be themselves. We have created a positive, encouraging and non-threatening atmosphere where all of our dancers have a chance to grow and explore.

Our Friday night Stage Stars program is a true Musical Theatre experience, with equal time dedicated to acting, singing AND dancing.

We are so excited to announce that registration is now open for our Little Starfish preschool programs on Sunday mornings, starting this October!

Designed especially for our youngest dancers, Little Starfish is a fun, nurturing and encouraging introduction to the wonderful world of dance. Through movement, music, imagination and play, your little one will build confidence, coordination and a love of being active—all while becoming part of our amazing dance community. 💙

We take dance seriously.

We care deeply about technique. We are passionate about growth. We celebrate hard work, dedication and those little moments when a dancer realizes, “Hey… I can actually do this!”

But we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Because there should also be laughter in the studio. There should be ridiculous costumes, silly poses, inside jokes, big smiles and memories that have absolutely nothing to do with perfect technique.

We believe dance should nurture more than just a dancer. It should inspire confidence, build community and - most importantly be FUN.

Serious about dance. Serious about our dancers. Never too serious to be silly.

Today's feature is Ciara!

What is your favorite style?

Choosing a single dance style is impossible for me because Modern Dance and Musical Theatre both hold a special place in my heart. I thrive on exploring the abstract concepts and raw techniques of Modern dance, yet I am equally energized by stepping into the over-the-top, expressive characters of Musical Theatre. Ultimately, both styles give me the perfect outlet to do what I love most: captivate an audience and tell a powerful story.

What are your plans for next year?

I will be attending the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Professional Training Program to further explore the history of jazz dance and music while building upon my jazz technique. I am also excited to join The Pocket, an all-women collective creating jazz-rooted pieces for tap dancers and musicians. I’m looking forward to taking the next step in my dance career and embracing these wonderful opportunities.

What is one of your favorite memories from dance?

There have been so many wonderful memories throughout my dance studio career that are near and dear to my heart. One of my fondest memories will always be exiting the stage after my solos and having Miss Kris and Miss Sam waiting there in the wings. Knowing that I was lucky enough to have two amazing teachers and advisors there to support me all these years is a memory I will cherish forever.

What would you like to share with younger dancers (ie. the next generation of dancers)?

To the next generation of dancers: your journey is entirely your own, so never compare yourself to the person standing next to you in the studio. Every dancer possesses a distinct creative voice and style that deserves to be celebrated. Embrace what makes you unique, share your authentic self with the world, and have the courage to step outside your comfort zone. Be bold, be fearless, and let your individuality shine! Never lose sight of why we take the stage – to feel the music, to express what words cannot say and to unite mind and movement in pure joy. Every performance is an opportunity to move the audience, spark a deep emotion and leave a lasting impression.

Today's feature is Skylar!

My favourite style of dance is lyrical, it lets me express my emotions and explore movement in many different ways, as well as how I can tell a story through my movements and emotions.

My plans for next year is to take a gap year to work and explore what’s really out there for me and see the world up close in my own eyes.

One of my many favourite dance memories is definitely the away competitions. Not one specifically, I just grow so much closer to my dance friends and make some of the best memories with the people I love most! We laugh and talk for hours which are my two favourite things to do!

Do what you love most and don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do! Anything is possible with the right mindset and it’s amazing what you can do with that! Be confident and be you!

What’s your favourite style?
I don’t think I have a favourite. They are all so different, I can’t really compare any of them. Each one has a little something that I love.

What are your plans for next year?

I am going to California to study nursing.

What is one of your favourite memories from dance?
There have been so many amazing memories and I was very grateful to grow up with such an amazing dance family. Every second with them is my favourite.

What would you like to share with younger dancers?
Enjoy everything, even the little moments. Time goes by so fast, and before you know it, you’re graduating and wondering where it all went.

Appreciate all of it. The backstage nerves, the 8 AM rehearsals where you’re half asleep but somehow still laughing, and especially the time you get with your friends. Those are the moments you’re actually going to miss.

So smile whenever you can, remember to be kind always, and live everyday to the fullest.
