Equipment costs surprise people. Therapy is the visible part of caring for a child with cerebral palsy… physio, speech, occupational therapy. But there’s a whole other layer: the things Beckett needs to live safely and comfortably every day.

A wheelchair and gait trainer. Specialized cups because his swallow reflex needs support. Billy shoes designed to fit his orthotics. A safety bed because he moves unpredictably and a regular one isn’t safe.

Some of this is publicly funded; Alberta Health Services covers the big-ticket items like his chair and gait trainer. But modifications, specialized gear, and the stuff that makes daily life possible? That’s where the gaps are.

Last year, these smaller items added up to thousands of dollars. This year, they’ll add up again.

That’s where our art sales come in. Proceeds from every piece sold fund the equipment Beckett actually needs. It’s not just the therapy everyone sees, but also the infrastructure that lets him live his life.

Red-outlined croton leaves in layered yellows, greens and burnt orange, with a small cluster of white flowers on the left. It’s a big piece: the image area is 28” x 20”, and the custom frame with a cream matte brings it to 36” x 28.25”.

Marti is a self-taught painter based in Florida, and her work is in private collections across North America, Germany, London and Japan. She donated this painting to Little Bee Gallery, so net proceeds from the sale go to Beckett’s care.
