Hello dear friends,

It’s with a heavy heart that I announce I will no longer be creating UNABASHED Magazine. I’ve had so many wonderful experiences through UNABASHED and I want to thank you all for your support 💕 I have a few copies of UNABASHED Vol. 2 left - if you are interested in purchasing one ($20) send me a DM. 🌸 As I wrap up my time at the Lightbox Studio, I want to thank RBC & Arts Commons for the opportunity to be a part of the 2021-2022 RBC Emerging Artists Program residency. I’ve had such a wonderful time creating a vibrant space & meeting lovely people. I highly encourage applying for this residency in the future, as I’ve already learned so much from the workshops✨
I’m so excited to see what gets up to in the Lightbox Studio after I vacate!

✨Thank you to everyone who came to the RBC Emerging Visual Artists Reception last night! Thank you also to everyone who couldn’t make it but wanted to.
Sanja and the Arts Commons team hosted such a wonderful reception and tour. If you haven’t had a chance to see all the amazing work currently on display at Arts Commons, I highly recommend checking it out!

UNABASHED: What movie would be greatly improved if it was made into a musical?
Shamus: That’s a fu***ng good question…I think edgy movies are too serious, so I’d like to see an edgy movie turned into a musical. What comes to mind is Kafka The Musical.

UNABASHED: What is your favorite TV channel?
Shamus: I don’t watch TV. My favorite TV channel is the static between channels.

UNABASHED: Would you rather every shirt you ever wear be kind of itchy or only be able to use 1 ply toilet paper?
Shamus: That one’s a tough one. I think I would go for the 1 play toilet paper; I think I could work around it. I have a lot of confidence in my toilet paper capabilities.

UNABASHED: How old where you when you had the worst haircut ever and what style was it?
Shamus: My dad was in the military so he would just shave my head bald, and when I was 9, I wanted to rebel against that, so I grew it out like an inch, and I died the front of it neon green. I was a fat kid as well, so I had this really round face and really short neon bangs. It was a rough look. And then when it washed out, it was like puke green. Or one time I shaved in the front of my head to look like I had male-pattern-baldness.

UNABASHED: If you could swim in any liquid what would it be?
Shamus: Oh there are so many tasty options. That’s the most exciting question I’ve gotten so far. I’d have to do something simple. I’d love to do a slime or something, dollar store slime. But I’d have to do Aloe Vera. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sam: I'd speak all foreign languages. It would make traveling anywhere much easier -- there'd be no language barrier. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sam: A couple nights ago I watched 'The Nice Guys' by Shane Black. It's kind of a love letter to the scuzzy detective films of the 70s -- morally dubious characters, Southern California and a convoluted plot. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling have good chemistry and are clearly having fun but a lot of the comedic moments fell flat. It was trying too hard to be clever at times and the 13 year old girl annoyed the s**t out of me. Overall though, I enjoyed it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
