I’m spending the summer once again at our family home in Croatia and have been counting down the days to my annual “art retreat”. Something about the scenery here inspires me every year to get hyper creative. This year I’ve brought my oil pastels and pencil crayons from Japan and have been making quick mini sketches at the beach. Here are some of my explorations so far. Still lots to learn. I will likely go back to collaging soon, as long as it’s not too windy 😁😁

CREATIVE EXPLORERS: Paper Forest Collage
July 7 @ 4:30PM // Ages 6-12
VIRTUAL

Join local children’s illustrator Vanja Kragulj and create your own woodland scene using painted paper shapes. Inspired by the charming book “Your Forest” by Jon Klassen, we’ll explore collage and storytelling while building a whimsical forest world from hand-painted paper.

ART NIGHT IN: Mushroom Studies in Watercolour
August 19 @ 7-8:30PM
Ages 16+ // Virtual

Inspired by botanical illustration and woodland foraging, this workshop explores the shapes, colours, and textures of fungi through watercolour collage. Participants will work with hand-painted papers to create mushroom studies using simple cut-paper techniques.

Join local children’s illustrator Vanja Kragulj for a playful paper collage workshop inspired by mountains and nature. Using cut paper and pencil crayons, participants will create their own colourful mountain villages filled with sunshine, trees, and tiny homes.

ART NIGHT IN: Watercolour Birds
Virtual Workshop with
Wednesday, April 29 // 7-8:30PM // Ages 16+

In this workshop, you’ll learn a variety of techniques to create beautiful watercolour textures. Using these textures, we’ll craft little bird cutouts and enhance them with details using watercolour and pencil crayons. Participants will have the choice to assemble their birds into a mobile or stand-alone illustrations.

Wednesday, April 1 // 7-8:30PM // Ages 16+

Jpin illustrator Vanja Kragulj for a creative journey into painted paper collage. In this workshop, you’ll create a monochromatic illustration of moths by first creating various painted paper textures. We will then cut and assemble the pieces into beautiful moths, finishing with pencil crayon details.
