We're looking for a Graphic Designer!

If you're looking at this post and thinking, "I could make that look way better," ...yeah, we think so too. 😅

This is a paid contract position offering year-round work. Workload will vary based on our programming and focuses on two major annual events, including:

🎨 Event branding & promotional artwork
📱 Social media graphics & digital content
🌐 Website & brand design
🖨️ Print & festival materials
✨ Sponsor, merchandise & marketing assets

If you don't do everything on this list, we'd still love to hear from you. Please email hiring@calgaryq***rartssociety.com and include:

• Your portfolio or samples of your work
• Your general rates/pricing (we won't use this as a dealbreaker without having a conversation first)

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Mike Hooves.

Mike was a beloved multi-faceted artist and community builder whose creativity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to q***r joy left a lasting impact on Calgary's arts community. A cherished collaborator across the city's arts sector, Mike worked alongside countless artists and organizations, including Calgary Q***r Arts Society. They helped bring unforgettable moments to life through projects like Drag Sings Live and their work continues to be celebrated through public artworks, their drag influence, and their collaboration with their loving partner Bryce, currently on display in the +15 galleries at the Werklund Centre. CQAS had the privilege of partnering with Drag Sings Live and supporting the Werklund Centre collaboration through our Creative Communities program, under the leadership of Wilmer Aburto.

More than their remarkable artistic talent, Mike will be remembered for the kindness, warmth, and authenticity they brought to every space they entered. They inspired countless artists and community members through their creativity, resilience, and willingness to lift others up.

Our hearts are with Mike's family, friends, collaborators, and everyone whose lives were touched by them. We are grateful for the time we shared, the art they created, and the joy they brought to community.

Thank you, Mike. Your legacy will continue to inspire us.

We have three free, beginner-friendly workshops coming up, each offering a different way to explore creativity, learn something new, and connect with community. Food is provided by Portland Street Pizza, and transit tickets are available.

We're looking for our next Interim Executive Director!

This is an opportunity to help guide Calgary Q***r Arts Society through an exciting period of transition while supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, storytellers, and community. We're seeking a compassionate, organized leader who believes in the power of the arts to create connection and meaningful change.

This full-time, six-month position is based in Calgary with a hybrid work model and the potential for extension.

CQAS is looking for volunteers for our casino fundraiser on July 14 and 15 at ACE Casino Airport (40 Aero Crescent NE, Calgary).

Casino fundraisers are a vital source of funding for our organization. We can't access these funds without volunteers, and without this support, the programs and services we offer our community are directly impacted.

No previous casino experience is required, and food and snacks will be provided during your shift.

First, we want to apologize for using AI-generated artwork in our previous post. As an arts organization, we recognize that our creative choices should reflect our commitment to supporting artists, and in this case, we fell short. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback. We've removed the artwork and updated these visuals to better align with our values and our commitment to the artists and communities we serve.

Calgary Q***r Arts Society is thrilled to announce that The Coming Out Monologues will be returning this October, thanks to the generous support of our presenting partner, RBC. So, if you've got a story, we've got a stage.

Presented in partnership with Reckless Daughter Creative and Marshall Vielle, The Coming Out Monologues invites members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to share stories of coming out, becoming, belonging, transformation, and self-discovery.

Whether your story is heartfelt, joyful, challenging, complicated, painful, hilarious, or somewhere in between, we'd love to hear it.
