✨ YSC Through the Ages ✨

2024 and 2025 were years of creativity, recognition, and looking toward the future 🎨🎶✨

In 2024, the ATCO Performing Arts Centre welcomed a stunning new mural by Scott Clark. The artwork transformed our space and beautifully reflected the creativity, energy, and community that make YSC feel like home.

In 2025, YSC was honoured to be featured for a day at the National Music Centre, showcasing every division of our organization and sharing the magic of YSC with the wider community. Throughout the day, audiences experienced performances from singers of all ages, while prospective members and families joined us for an open house to learn more about our programs and discover what makes YSC so special.

That same day, we proudly premiered Beyond the Horizon, a new composition by Kathryn Parrotta, continuing YSC’s tradition of championing new Canadian music and inspiring audiences through innovative performance.

From creating new artistic landmarks to welcoming new families into our community and debuting new works, these years showcased YSC’s continued growth and commitment to the future of the performing arts.

Were you there for the mural unveiling, the National Music Centre feature, or the premiere of Beyond the Horizon?

✨ YSC Through the Ages ✨

2022 and 2023 were years of celebration, inclusion, and honouring the people who helped shape YSC’s legacy 💛🎶

In 2022, YSC proudly participated in its first Calgary Pride Parade, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the power of creating a welcoming community where everyone can belong. 🌈

In 2023, Youth Singers celebrated our founder, Shirley Penner, with a special gala dinner and performance, Spark. The event honoured the creative spark that Shirley ignited nearly four decades ago, a spark that continues to inspire generations of singers today. Alumni from across Calgary, across Canada, and around the world shared their well wishes and returned to perform in celebration of the remarkable legacy she created. ✨

From marching in Pride to celebrating the visionary who started it all, these years were a powerful reminder of the community, connection, and creativity at the heart of YSC.

Were you part of YSC’s first Pride Parade or Spark?

✨ YSC Through the Ages ✨

2021 was a year of innovation, resilience, and new beginnings 💻🎶

As the 2020–2021 season continued virtually, YSC embraced new ways to create, connect, and perform. While much of the world remained shut down, Youth Singers produced an ambitious three part web series, ensuring members could continue sharing their talents and staying connected through the arts.

2021 also marked an exciting new chapter in YSC history as Megan Emmett stepped into the role of CEO, helping lead the organization into its next era. Later that year, the ATCO Performing Arts Centre was officially recognized with its naming ceremony, celebrating the home that has supported countless singers, performers, and families over the years.

From virtual performances to significant milestones, 2021 showed that even in challenging times, the YSC community continued to grow, adapt, and thrive.

Were you part of the virtual season or the web series?

Do you remember the APAC naming ceremony or Megan becoming CEO?

What were you doing in 2021 while YSC continued to make history?
