Was this a $1 million dollar rail? It's amazing to me that these riders can handle such pressure. Thibeau Spits from Belgium (only 25 years old) entered the Spruce Meadows Rolex grand prix coming off of a silver medal placing behind Steve Guerdat at Aachen two weeks before. I was really pulling for him to place well in this class but the dreaded bicycle jump, last jump in the 1st round, came down from a light touch behind, nullifying his chance to be in the jump off. Prize money went to 12th and he placed 13th. Could this have been avoided if he had stayed centered in the saddle instead of twisting to see if the rail stayed up? We will neve know! His disappointment was obvious. Thibeau has an unorthodox style but I think his partnership with Impressive-K will bring him many more chances down the road.
