The UNS 5S is starting to come together. The emersed plants have settled in well, and I’m really enjoying the contrast between the driftwood, moss, and the soft texture of the fern canopy. It’s a small setup, but there’s something relaxing about watching it slowly mature and fill in over time.

One thing I’m still undecided on is the duckweed. Part of me likes the natural look it gives the water surface, but I also enjoy having a clear view into the tank and letting more light through.

What do you think—should I keep the duckweed or remove it? 🌿

It’s been a while. Life had a way of taking priority—some big changes along the way—but it feels right to reconnect with this passion again. There’s something grounding about building from nothing and letting the process take over.

This layout is built around movement and tension—Canadian red cedar branching out with an almost explosive energy, contrasted by grounded stone from the Rockies. The flow pushes left to right, with the wood reaching upward while the stone anchors everything back down. A subtle rear slope adds depth and perspective, setting the stage for a layered, nature-inspired composition.

Still missing some finer details and sand work to tie everything together, but the foundation is there—and that’s what matters most.
