!Introducing our Resident Artist, Kashifa Sohail!

Based in Calgary, Alberta, Kashifa Sohail is a visual artist deeply inspired by the stunning and ever-changing landscapes of her home province, Alberta. Her creative journey is rooted in a lifelong connection to nature.

This class introduces the essential elements and principles of landscape painting. You will learn how to create depth using background, middle ground, and foreground, along with aerial perspective techniques. We will explore atmospheric color, values, and hues to bring your landscapes to life. A strong focus will be placed on developing a compelling focal point as you complete your own landscape project.

Our next Featured Artist for Art Walk is Rino!

Rino Friio was born in Italy in 1955. He has lived in Calgary for 70 years. He graduated from The Alberta College of Art in 1976. in Fine Art .

He has been an Artist Painter for most of his life in Calgary. Rino has been in many galleries in Calgary since 1977 .

He is presently showing in Mountain Galleries In Banff , Whistler Resort and Jasper.

He also has Patrons In The UK And The U S.

Rino does have Paintings in The Peter Lougheed Center, and The Calgary Seperate School Board , and Spruce Meadows.

He is currently painting Mountain Scenery And Alberta Landscapes, which he is fascinated by!

Sisay Shimeles is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Calgary. He has had several solo and group art exhibitions, as well as public art pieces in many places in Africa, Europe, and North America.

Art Walk is one week away!

We have a featured exhibit " Sculptural Dialogue".

Artist Vahe Tokmajyan is the creator. Vahe is not only a sculptor, but a drawing and sculpture instructor as well!

Vahe has called Calgary home since 2005, but his life in sculpture began long before that. For more than 30 years, Vahe worked in stone, wood, stained-glass mosaic, and mixed media, creating both intimate studio works and large-scale public sculpture.

International Avenue has a particularly meaningful place in his Calgary story. Vahe was the team lead for Dance, the permanent public artwork installed at Unity Park.

Attention All! There are still a few spots left!

Have you ever dreamed of leading a campfire sing-along but don’t have time to learn guitar? Try the ukulele! This fun, accessible instrument is perfect for emerging musicians of all ages. With its soft nylon strings and simple chord shapes, learning songs is quick and enjoyable.

Join musician and educator Mandy Faye for an informative session where you’ll learn a new song each time. Classes begin with tuning your ukulele and finish with a lively sing-along. After the program, participants can keep growing their repertoire by applying the strum patterns and chord shapes they’ve learned.

Do you want to see your artwork on a Calgary Transit bus? Applications are now open for the 2027 Art Bus program.

Up to seven artists/artist collectives will be selected to wrap the exterior of a public transit bus with new artwork.

We welcome artists at any stage of their career and working in any artistic discipline who live in Calgary/Mohkinsstsis.

In this online workshop, Calgary Arts Development (CADA) will walk artists through the Artist Development Microgrant and application process, including eligibility, what the grant can support, application requirements, and what to consider when preparing your submission.

You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions and hear information directly from CADA before submitting your application.

Whether this is your first time applying for a CADA grant or you’ve applied before, this session can help you better understand the process and prepare for the upcoming deadline.
