The newest draft of will have a public reading this Thursday at 6pm at Loft 112 in the East Village.
Exactly two years ago we premiered the first few scenes of Natalie Meisner's at the same site. Through conversations with those that came out to support the show's development, we gained insight into Everett Klippert's life and LGBTQ+ experiences in Calgary prior to the 1969 decriminalization of homos*xuality. It also solidified the critical importance of our community elders.
Today marked the beginning of the play's final workshop stage. Sage Theatre, Third Street Theatre and The Calgary Gay History Project invite you to attend and this free event and share your thoughts about the script. https://www.facebook.com/events/156468238471624/

This March, Sage Theatre in association with us and the Calgary Gay History Project will present the world premiere of Natalie Meisner's Legislating Love. It deals with the life of Everett George Klippert, a Calgarian who admitted he was gay and had been with men. For this his life was shattered. The play honours his legacy and his court case was what helped the legalization of homos*xuality. We are waiting for him and many others to receive a formal pardon, but Mr. Klippert has just received an apology from the government "we were wrong, I apologize, I am sorry, we are sorry...for an LGBTQ "purge that lasted decades...at the hands of their own government...nothing short of a witch hunt" Watch live here:

The bill is a key element of the government's bid to make amends to people who have suffered discrimination due to their s*xual orientation or gender identity.
