Some projects become so much more than a piece of furniture. ❤️

This custom cedar bench was created for Herve’s 90th birthday, featuring hand-burned mountain scenery, trees, flowers, a hummingbird and the words:

“Sit awhile, remember much, and be grateful for the journey.”

After the celebration, Tina told me that her dad absolutely loved it and that it brought tears to his eyes. Hearing that made every hour spent building and burning this piece completely worthwhile.

Thank you, Tina, for trusting me to create something so meaningful for your dad and your family. This is exactly why I started Hammer & Wild, to create one-of-a-kind pieces that carry stories, memories and meaning for years to come. 🌲🔥

Custom benches, signs and personalized wood-burned pieces are available. Message me to start planning yours!

Spent some time with Dad cutting down half of this old birch tree. It has a bit of a bow to it, but at roughly 115” long and 19” across the base, there’s still plenty of beautiful wood here!

The dry rot should leave some really unique swirls and spalting throughout the grain. I’m hoping to mill a few nice boards from it and turn them into some one-of-a-kind pieces.

We left the other half standing for next time, so stay tuned for part two! 🌳🪚

Every turn tells a different part of the story 🌿🔥

Jenny’s one-of-a-kind walking stick has been completely hand-burned from top to bottom, with nature inspired details wrapping all the way around it. The burning is finished now it just needs its protective coat before it’s officially ready for the trails!

There’s something pretty special about watching her carry it through the woods where it belongs. ❤️

Custom walking sticks are available, message Hammer & Wild to create one that tells your story.

A little behind the build. 🔨🌲

Raw cedar, an idea, and a whole lot of burning.

Here’s a look at the process behind one of my recent custom Lake Lot signs from the first layout right through to the final finish.

Definitely one of my favourite builds so far.

What would you have me build next?

Handcrafted. Custom. A little wild.
