Emil Agopian is a film, project, and art director. A trained classical cellist, my deep connection to music and rythym is responsible for my music video work receiving consistent critical acclaim and occasionally charting. As I cultivate an appreciation for a variety of genres in music and visual art, my work generally juxtaposes and brings together elements from unconventional sources of inspiration in striking ways.
My breadth of understanding across various disciplines positions me well to lead large scale, multi/inter-diciplinary projects that bring together design, tech/web/app development, art, single camera and muti-camera film production, marketing, and more.
My clients include the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, The National Arts Centre (Canada), The University of Calgary, and the Canadian Heart and Stroke foundation. I’ve produced music videos for Grammy award winning and Juno nominated artists and composers like Dame Evelyn Glennie and Vincent Ho, for which I’ve received awards nationally and internationally. Other clients include Sinzere, Julie Olive, Darcy, and Compass.

In stage management, he enjoys supporting the creation and growth of new works, and forming safe spaces for creativity to flourish. A selection of K’s stage management credits include “Boom Baby” (Sage Theatre), “Ghost” Return to Mourning (Independent), and Our Canada, Our Story (Action Dignity and Arts Commons). Jason Mehmel is a writer, producer and director living in Calgary. He is the Artistic Director for Sage Theatre. His recent directing work includes Boom Baby, The Orange Dot, and A Year of Magical Thinking (Sage Theatre). He produces the annual IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists and mentors emerging performing artists every year.

Jason Mehmel works as a speaker coach, recently supporting the Haskayne Business Exchange. He is the organizer and a speaker coach for the TEDxYYC event. He has produced and directed short films, written for animation, and both writes and edits in comics.

Bruce Barton is a performance maker, research-creation scholar, and Co-Artistic Director (with Pil Hansen) of Vertical City. He works extensively as a professional director, writer, and dramaturg of theatre and dance. As a playwright, his work has been performed across Canada, received multiple awards and nominations, and been anthologized. As a director and dramaturg, his work has been featured by major presenters and festivals across Canada, including Nuit Blanche, SummerWorks, and Rhubarb (Toronto), Nocturne (Halifax), Micro Performance (Vancouver), and the High Performance Rodeo (Calgary). He is the author or editor/contributor of seven books focusing on dramaturgy and artistic research, including Performance as Research: Methods, Knowledge, Impact (Routledge 2018), Mediating Practice(s): Performance as Research and/in/through Mediation (U of Wi******er P, 2013), and At the Intersection Between Art and Research (NSU 2010). Bruce leads classes in performance-creation, interdisciplinary processes, practice-as-research and research methods at the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts. He is also a Board Member of Performance Studies international (PSi), where he is also a co-convenor of the Artistic Research Working Group.

Jamie is an award-winning actor, singer, educator, voice-over artist, puppeteer, puppet-maker, bread-baker and a curious appreciator of hand-made things. Past appearances with Sage are Fool for Love and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Her twenty years as a professional theatre artist have taken her from coast to coast, with many memorable summers as a company member at Two Planks and a Passion Theatre off the grid in Nova Scotia. As well as performances with The Arts Club in Vancouver, The 1979 Group in Toronto and One Yellow Rabbit, Alberta Theatre Projects, Vertigo, Theatre Calgary, Ghost River Theatre, MT7, Lunchbox Theatre, Downstage, The Shakespeare Company, The Green Fools and more here in Calgary. Jamie is also a puppeteer on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock streaming now on AppleTV. She has a particular artistic passion for new work, new musicals, projects with a long fermentation process and collaborations with cherished colleagues. Jamie is a Co-Artistic Producer of the newly launched, Little River Entertainment. Her family puppet show, Liluune premiered March 2025 with the Festival of Animated objects in collaboration with YWCA and her devised show Frontier, co-conceived with Eric Rose, will premier April 2026 with Ghost River Theatre.
