We opened our doors and welcomed so many community members into the space - a day full of great chats, learning more about NVRLND. and exhibiting a selection of works at The Boutique at NVRLND.

Join us for an afternoon of studio wandering, meet the artists behind the work, and experience the energy that makes NVRLND. what it is 🎶🎨🎸🪢🖌️🏺🍄⚡️

Once an iconic hotel, NVRLND. is now home to almost 40 creatives working in a vast array of different mediums. This space exists because of the community that believes in it. Because you show up. Because you support artists. Because you’re curious ✨

Leela is a multidisciplinary entrepreneur working at the intersection of hair, fashion, and community.

Since joining NVRLND., she’s expanded her fashion career and launched a leather accessories brand of leather toques, beanies and scarves 🧵🪡

Over the years, her time at NVRLND. led to her joining the board and stepping into the role of Program Director.

When she’s not at NVRLND., you’ll find her behind the chair at her Marda Loop hair studio, cultivating connection, creativity, and style ⚡️

It’s been a minute, but we’re back with our Creatives series! 🎨

Meet Monica Ila (she/her) — an ultra-talented multidisciplinary artist who believes that art is instrumental in bringing communities closer together and rediscovering the whimsy within our daily lives 🤖👹✨

Monica’s work includes sculpture, murals, painting, and puppetry. Despite working in many different mediums, playfulness is at the heart of everything she makes - you may have even seen one of her murals on your way to NVRLND. 👀

We can’t wait to see what .ila dreams up next in her studio! 💭

We’re excited to welcome Aaron Navrady to The Boutique on Nov 13th for his first ever solo show of original comics work! 🎨📖

Original ink and watercolour comics pages from The Cold Fire will be on display opening Thursday Nov 13 with an artist talk at 7:30 PM. This event is free and open to all! 🎟️

Aaron graduated from the Alberta College of Art & Design (now AUarts) in 2002. He has created short stories for Renegade Arts & Entertainment, Nelson Education, BionX, BeatRoute Magazine and TopShelf 2.0 (along with a plethora of other art projects). Based in Calgary, Alberta, Aaron is a proud member of Panel One and former Art Director of the Panel One Comic Creator Festival.
