Still taking it all in. 🤍

Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to celebrate 15 years of Makore Hospitality with us. It meant a lot to have so many friends, family and industry colleagues there to share the moment.

A special thank you to our Makore family from bleucalgary and PAPI bar and nightclub who helped make the event a success, and to all our industry colleagues and partners who supported the celebration.

To my family, friends, partners/industry colleagues and everyone who has supported us over the years, thank you for continuing to believe in the journey.

2011 feels like it was just yesterday. I’m grateful for how far we’ve come and excited for what’s still ahead.

Here’s to the next chapter.🤍

A lot of people were surprised when I recently shared where the name Makore Makore Hospitality came from.

Makore was my grandfather’s name, Makore Elias Mupambwa. Our journey didn’t start as Makore Hospitality, but choosing his name was my way of honouring him and carrying his legacy forward.

My journey in the industry started at Wh***ey Nightclub in 2009, but the business officially began in 2011 with One Entertainment and our first All White Party.

What started with hall parties, MRU student parties and weddings grew into weekly events and concerts across the city at places like Jimmy’s, TEN X, Vinyl, Soho’s and TYN Lounge. From hip-hop, R&B, EDM, reggae, dancehall and Afrobeats to soca and Latin music, we brought different communities together through music and events.

The journey later included a liquor store, Music, Lately, Chakalaka, Honey, PDT, Mister M and eventually PAPI and BLEU today. Not every chapter worked out the way we hoped, but we kept learning, rebuilding and moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who attended our events, visited our businesses, worked with us or believed in what we were building. Most importantly, thank you to my partners, friends and family who have always stood by my side and never gave up on me or this journey. I could not have made it this far without you.

This Saturday, 15 years after our first All White Party, we’re bringing it full circle with a big 15-year celebration at BLEU Rooftop Bar & Day Club and bleucalgary .

Can’t wait to celebrate with you all.🤍

We wrapped up Stampede last night with , closing out an incredible 10 days the best way we know how.🔥

From Chance the Rapper on Saturday to 2 Chainz on Sunday, this marked the first time we’ve ever brought back-to-back hip hop concerts to Stampede. Thank you to 2 Chainz, Grey Eagle, every opening act, our team, our partners, our friends, and everyone who came out and made these shows possible.💙

Until next time. Keep an eye on … we’ve got more to come this summer. 👀

Thanks to & for stopping by last night! 💙 Another Stampede night in the books. 🤠🔥
