Fall 2026 FBMS jams are almost here!

FBMS jams are getting a refresh this fall! Join us on Tuesday October 6, 2026 from 7-10pm to kick off our first weekly bluegrass jam of the season at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE Calgary AB T2E 0C6).

Jams will run every Tuesday evening from 7-10PM for the remainder of the 2026/27 season (with the exception of December 22 & 29, 2026 - we’ll be taking a break to enjoy the holiday season!). The jamming season will conclude on Tuesday, April 27, 2027.

Beginner jams will be hosted the first Tuesday of every month. The beginner jams will be hosted by an experience FBMS jammer and feature gentler tempos and opportunities for learning and discussion. The beginner jams will run from 7-9PM and participants are encouraged to stick around for the final hour of the night to join in and test their skills in one of the more advanced jams!

Our beginner jam hosts and tunes for fall 2026 are:

October 6th:

FAQ:
Will the Thursday evening jams at the Irish Cultural Society still be happening in the fall?
No, the new Tuesday jam in Bridgeland will replace the Thursday jams at the ICS.

Is there parking for jammers?
Yes, there is a parking lot on the south side of the building as well as street parking closeby.

Do I need a membership to attend?
No, but purchasing a membership allows FBMS to continue to host jams & events, so please consider signing up at the link below if you’ve enjoyed our jams & concerts!

The 9th Avenue Allstars are an Alberta bluegrass group bringing together four seasoned musicians — Al LaMonaca, Fred Mallette, Bruce Rohn and Dale Ulan — with a shared love of traditional bluegrass and acoustic music. Built around strong musicianship, tight vocal harmonies and the unmistakable sound of banjo, upright bass, guitar and mandolin, the Allstars deliver bluegrass the way it was meant to be heard: live, energetic and up close. Each member brings years of performing experience to the group, creating a relaxed chemistry on stage while keeping the music driving and authentic. Traditional bluegrass favourites, their own material with great picking.

The band has also been working on a new release arriving around their November show, giving Calgary House Concerts audiences an opportunity to hear some of the new songs live alongside their bluegrass favourites. For Calgary House Concerts regulars, Al LaMonaca returns after performing with Crooked Path in 2025, this time the sound of The 9th Avenue Allstars with him.
