Very exciting news! We got new baskets from Cathy Harper, one of our artists from our collaboration with NWT. Cathy's baskets are beautiful sculptural pieces that use a wide breadth of materials and techniques, like these two metallic "Speak To Me" pieces are made from speaker wires.

“My focus started using wild northern willow to create functional baskets and non-traditional woven forms. The wild willow experience has been expanded through the use of reed, bead, various barks, cattail and other natural embellishments to the willow, the use of white and cultivated willow with wild willow, and using different varieties and weaves to accentuate the northern varieties of willow."

"Lael is a potter, ceramic artist and quilter who explores ideas of ceremony, rituals and womanhood through functional craft mediums. Lael was raised in Dawson Creek in Northern British Columbia, and now lives in Calgary, Alberta. She began making from an early age, joining a long line of obsessive craftsmen. She has been working in clay for fourteen years and has recently earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from The Alberta University of Arts in 2020. Lael has exhibited her work in shows across Canada and the United States and has work in various collections across North America."
